Selling car in Autotrader - web or paper version?

Trying to sell our 3 year old merc 220 through the web version only and no luck.

Do people still use the paper version?

or any other tips on how to shift this car? We've priced it very keenly - but we're in Scotland - is there less of a market up here? or is it just a !!!! time of year to sell?

    I never bother with the magazine - as not many peaople look in there these days. Also it cuts donw the number of unwanted calls from companies who "have 4 buyers lined up in your area".

    do a search on autotrader for a similar model to yours - do a national search as folk will travel these days! Pretend youre the one buying the Merc. See how competetive yours looks.

    Got more info on it?

    I would disagree, I sold a car recently in the magazine and on the web. We got loads of calls on the days the paper version was out, so can only assume that people still do buy it. I'd thought the same (that people don't bother with the mag) but my OH convinced me to advertise in the mag as well as online. Damn it was hard admitting he was right!!

    I would agree with Creamcheese about the paper version...

    We have advertised the GF's car online (admittedly not with AT) and all we got from that was time wasters and scammers...

    It's an 05 Merc C220 avantgarde. 55,000 miles, fsh, diesel automatic, full leather and sport pack. We've got it on at £13k - which the last time I looked was £2k under the dealers prices.

    Maybe I should think about the paper version then.

    Ignore the companies with the buyers lined up, £80 or whatever will be thrown down the pan if you pay them.

    We're in Scotland too and had no calls when we advertised web only. If I was doing it again I would put it in the paper as well.

    (Unfortunately this what my wife advised at the time and I ignored her - I know how creamcheese feels!)

    I know - don't you just hate know-it-alls! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    We were actually offered £10,000 (for a £1000 car) and told the car would be appearing in a TV show. Unfortunately the person was based in Nigeria and wanted to bank transfer the money :rolleyes:

    Sold the last 2 cars using Autotrader online, although I paid for them to be in the paper version as well, but they sold before it came out.

    The reason they sold so quickly was pictures, pictures & more pictures. I also look after all my cars ;-)
