There was a powergen rep on telly giving details of this offer. It is genuine.
Powergen look to have contracted out the distribution.

We had the same problem as nikd72. Our energy bills were gradually slipping into arrears but continued to state that the DD would remain the same. When I called to request the DD be increased they tried to increase it to recoup the underpayment in 3 months, a bit rich considering they were happy to not start recouping it at all. I haggled to spread the arrears over 9 months and will probably move once cleared.0

Same thing happened to me. I got an e-mail saying that my next online bill would soon be ready and could I send them a customer meter reading. I suddenly realised I hadn't had a printed bill for the last 3 quarters. I also was not aware of signing up for online billing, and am about to contact them to sort this out, as I prefer post bills. I have not received e-mail notification of these last 3 bills either. They have also just sent me a letter saying they are upping my monthly payment.0

I received my 4 free bulbs from Powergen some time in August or September after copying the voucher from here on Martins site. I then received the actual book of vouchers with my last bill and sent it off and, would you believe it, this morning I received another 4 free bulbs!! :T :j
It does say one per household but they don't ask for an account number so give it a go!! You can still access the vouchers via this site - they can only say no and tell you that you've already received your quota!! Maybe it can make up a bit for you all that are having hassle with your bills. Nothing ventured and all that......
Thanks Powergen!!! :rotfl:0 -
Nice to see someone likes Powergen! It would appear that Powergen use estimated readings, even if actual readings have been taken, when they believe that the usage pattern does not match that anticipated by their computer. The problem seems to be that their computer grossly underestimates real usage and so actual readings are routinely rejected. Apparently they are supposed to contact the customer if an actual reading varies wildly from those anticipated, however they don’t explain that in their request – being somewhat stubborn I didn’t see why I should read the meter and supply them with the result when a man had been to read the meter a few days earlier. Perhaps if they explained more fully I wouldn’t now have an anticipated bill of £1,000 as they have used estimated readings since I moved in 18 months ago. Not sure if estimated readings were the cause of their recent poor press, but I’m sure that in general estimated bills can cause unnecessary financial hardship and unexpected debt.I came, I saw, I did a little browsing.0

I would not go near Powergen for a free light bulb (or 100 light bulbs )! - their billing is very erratic to say the least, e.g. no bills for 6 months or bills for £20k !!
See my thread "Powergen are a shambles !" for more horror stories etc.0
