may be that someone else has replied, but if you are thirsty you are already slightly dehydrated.....and of course exceptions is those with renal or blood problems who have to drink whether they are thirsty or not (in my case 300mls an hour) regularly. I dont drink tea or canned pop and one coffee a day in the morning (no medical reason i just dont like them) i have just water (plain or fizzy) and squash, juice occasionally.... this download is a great reminder - save me having to set the an alarm for every hour !!!!! :)

If you drink 4-5 litres then you would be constantly urinating, all day, who are you kidding!

I'm amazed at the amount of people who beleive this intake has to be pure water.

Think about it ... once the water hits your stomach, it's going to mix with other half-digested foods already in there.

So there's really no difference if you get your water intake from juice, squash, fruit ... whatever.

I don't usually comment on 'debates' in threads, but I do sometimes feel put off of putting something I might find on here, for worry that someone will comment on whether it is a good/bad freebie/tip....I agree with the person who said - if it isn't something you are interested in - move onto something else....

Thanks SunPrincess - I am always grateful that people take the time and trouble to post their fiinds on here. If some people don't find your post useful to them, then they should just move on to something that they do find useful and not waste their time by criticising it and possibly putting other people off of posting their things.

Personally, I think it can be very helpful to some people and it was very kind of you to post it.

    So, Thank You :)

I agree with you entirely. It seems that too many people come on here to criticize other peoples postings. When the OP is only trying to be helpful.

This is supposed to be a friendly forum, and I'm glad to say in most cases it is. If someone reads a post which is of no interest, then they should read another topic.

Thank you SunPrincess & JayD... :T

  • Thanks!!! Here was me thinking that some people could use the tip and those who didn't need it would just move onto the next tip - little did I realise it would spark such a debate!!!!

  • The research that has been shown already on here from the 1940s also said that you can get your 2l a day from food and drink, so a jacket potato/fruit etc will come into that 2l. It does seem funny that people can ignore the bits of statistics that they don't want you to know about!

Rule of thumb from when I was swimming training (lots as a teenager), if your wee is clear, you are drinking enough. If not drink more.

Does anybody know if the good people at Stella Artois are going to do one of these?
My views are irrelevant - censorship is alive & well!
  • Nobody will need to be told how much water to drink each day. When you are thirsty, drink. If you are not thirsty, don't drink.

I forget to drink all the time! Then suddenly I'l be absolutle gagging for a drink. I've always been like it - just too busy to think about it at times.
