I believe that those merchants which accept Electron will show a separate logo as well as the VISA logo.
I'm pretty certain that those who are issued with Electron cards realise that they are an inferior version of the card. That's why all proper current accounts issue proper VISA (or equivalent) cards to their customers if they have an adequate credit history.0 -

Well the card that I hold is clearly a VISA debit and not an Electron, so you can see my concern Mark.Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0 -

I haven't heard anything about this problem. And I've banked with A&L for 11 years and obviously used the debit card from time to time (but maybe not as much as you, as I use credit cards when I can).
Have either of you raised this problem with A&L? It isn't an acceptable situation.0 -
I think from speaking to A&L and Lloyds TSB is that the 2 in 1 version of the Visa Debit has a £0 floor limit and therefore requires real time authorisation hence being declined at POS. Still its better than the Electron version, I was stuck with one of these for years when I banked with the Halifax, I plan to apply for a 3 in 1 Visa with A&L in a few months so hopefully this problem will be history.

Explain "2 in 1" and "3 in 1" please?
Something to do with:
- ATM
- cheque guarantee
- debit card
I presume?0 -
Yes sorry Mark, 2 in 1 = VISA debit and Link ATM and 3 in 1 = VISA Debit, Link ATM and CG.Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? So, how is a "2 in 1" better than an Electron card? Aren't they sort of the same thing (particularly given the zero floor limit issue you raise)?0
-
Because it is more widley accepted.Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0
