It seems to be that they are like Marmite. Some people love them, some people hate them. It confuses me why it should be this way... I wouldn't mind if they were consistent, but they can either be awesome (next day delivery, cheap product) or dreadful (the mind boggles). I've personally never had a problem with them despite buying most of a PC in stages over the course of a year"It is dangerous to be right when those in power are wrong" - Voltaire0 -
Hi i know this is a really late reply, but PCworld do do a student discount, on production of a valid NUS card - its 10%
better than nothing i suppose!! 0 -
www.ebuyer.co.uk for computer things! It's really cheap do digital cameras etc too.
Yep I agree, I used Ebuyer to get my younger sister a laptop. Got this one delivered free: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/131629
They also do proper IBM warranty packs/
I didn't get any problems with the delivery and I just ordered a USB flash drive day before yesterday from them.
I'm not having a dig at PC World or anything, but I used to work there as a techie. All the sales staff are put under pressure everyday to sell the coverplans with the laptops/computers. PC World, Curry's and The Tech Guys are all owned by Dixons PLC. These days the techies in PC World are trained to scare people about viruses and spyware to get innocent customers to pay £30 just to do a spybot scan. The coverplans that PC World/Curry's do sell, are all scams of getting money out of you. Premium rate numbers, etc.. It's not surprising that Dixons are no longer on the high street.0 -

My PC World give 10% on all accesories (like ink paper etc). Not on actual computers, scanners etc though.Green and White Barmy Army!0

PC World should give the student discount on everything except PCs, laptop, and normal electrics stuff (TVs, etc). ALL computer peripherals are included in the discount deal, so always point that out to cashiers who tell you otherwise.
With PC World it's worth phoning up the helpline after you've checked out the information on the website, as they sometimes offer you prices far lower than the in-store price and you still pick the item up at any PC World store you choose - WITH any student discount on top!I have no signature.0 -
Apple offer great student discounts (8% i think) all year round and often have promotions on like buy a laptop and ipod and save £100

j

i have a NUS extra card. can i use it to get a 5% discount on a new laptop at pc world? or does it have to be a ucas card?:j Smoke me a kipper: I'll be back for breakfast! :j0

PC World does student discount on accessories only. The type of identification you have to show varies from store to store. I bought a laptop bag in Oxford and had to show my university ID card. Another time I tried in Brentford, they asked me for the NUS extra card (luckily I was with a mate who had one). I bought a printer and they gave me 10% off.
The only way you can grab a discount on a laptop is if you know someone who works there. Better still, why not apply to work there. You will get $$$$ plus more $$$ in discounts plus even more $$$$ in bonuses.:beer:0
