PC World student discount

Do PC World do a student discount? Thanks.

  • Apparently if you buy a PC from them they'll give you a student card which gets you 10% off in future. Not really worth it if you have to buy one of their overpriced PCs to save 10% on pencils & post-it notes

Don't know about PC World but there are substantial discounts on some Microsoft packages for students - of any age so can be used for home if there are school age children in the house.

Mind you for a lot of home use OpenOffice would do the job just as well for free!

  • Yes, Open Office is good, but in all honesty, I've heard of a few people using something called "pirate" versions of MS software. I have no idea what this means, obviously

Ebuyer is one of the best places to go for a new PC - or if you just want "a computer" and you're not worried about bells and whilstles, Dell (when they're doing some of their good special offers).

The best thing to do is talk to someone who really knows about computers before buying, and they'll be able to give you advice on whether you're getting a good deal or not. The chances are, if you're in PC World, the answer will be "NO!!!!"

But has one of the worst customer service you can find.

I have constantly had incorrect items sent etc. Altho they are the cheapest and i do still, on occasions, use them

really? They were really good with me when I wanted to return something. My friend rang their new customer phone number and actually spoke to a person who was helpful.
  • If you want to get discounts, check online, and then reserve it. Then pick it up in store, and they'll honour even the "WEb Only" prices!
