Sorry if the answer to this question’s obvious! I know how to use the “quote” button in order to reply within the same thread, but how do you show a quote from one thread to a different thread. I’ve tried cutting and pasting, but all that did was to provide a link to the previous thread, which wasn’t what I was trying to do. I’ve looked through the FAQ’s on the reading and posting of messages, but couldn’t find any reference to it.

what i do is quote in the thread as normal.
then when you go to the box that has the qhote in it.
copy that whole box inc the quote tags at the end.

then paste it in the new reply.

you can copy and paste the text and use quote tags but the above is a bit more noob friendly :)

I tried doing that, but all it did was turn the quote into a link that went to the quote. What I wanted, was to show the quote, in its box, on the new thread. If it works for you, I don't know what I did! I'll have to try that again. Many thanks.

Why not open a new window/tab with the thread you want to quote in, click quote, then copy and paste the text that appears, then return back to the thread / reply you are writing and paste in. eg, just copied this as a quote from another thread I've replied to:

    If you type in: http://my.ebay.co.uk/
    does it still redirect?
It should just go to: http://my.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MyeBay

And then just quoted this from above:
    C'mon, let's have a multi-quote button: pretty please

I can't believe I can't do this! I've tried what's been suggested, but when I try to copy and paste, the paste facility just doesn't seem to want to work. I'm going onto a post, clicking quote, selecting all, and then when I try pasting onto the new thread (with a new tab), nothing happens when I paste! Thanks very much for your help though. I think I'll go and sit in a dark corner somewhere!

Having tried a million times (well maybe a few less than that, it just feels like it), it would appear that it's the copy facility that's not working. When I try to copy the quote page, copy option doesn't appear, just select all. So I select all, and paste onto the new thread, but all that happens is whatever I've previously copied (ie in a word document) appears, totally unrelated to the text I've tried selecting in the quote. I just don't understand why this is happening. I've re-started my computer, but it still doesn't make any difference. I give up!
