Hands up those who have written to their MP to express their disgust ?

I wrote to my MP. Got a long letter back but I do wonder why none of them queried the effects on the lower paid all those months ago when it was announced.

Little point in me writing to mine, they were part of the team that devised this wonderful vote winning policy !

catz1ct - unless you are in early retirement, would you be entitled to working tax credit which could more than make up for a loss?

The chairman of the select committee was on 'newsnight' tonight confirming 5+ million will be worse off, and complained about having to scratch around to get these figures, when they are normally provided at the time of the original announcement.

The Labour spokesperson was just beating about the bush on who 'wouldn't' be worse off and reading between the lines 'devil take the hindmost' for those who will be worse off.

On the plus side, the back benchers seem now to have got the message even if the government hasn't.

Sorry but that's not relevant. If you don't tell them then they will be quite happy claiming their nice little expense allowances and thinking what a good job they are doing. The council elections are due next month as well I have already told mine how disgusted I am with Labour and that I wont be voting for them in said election. I probably wouldn't anyway but he doesn't know that!

I don't need to tell them, the gormless beggars already know they've dropped themselves in the soup. Brown last week "nobody will be worse off" - Brown this week "some classes of taxpayers will be worse off".

Unfortunately as a retiree I have no voice in the Governments decisions that affect me and my future.

We can moan and discuss all we want, we are disjointed we have no voice so why should the government listen.
The only power we have is our vote.
We need to speak as one voice.
That voice could be loud and clear and sway any government’s decision.
    The big question.
    How to unite!

Think youll find the extra £50 Fuel A is for i year only, also if you in your mid 50s, youll have to wait till you 65 to get it.

Good point Roddy, I wonder how many people realise that the Winter Fuel allowance qualifying age is being incrementally moved to 65.

As is the female retirement age, so when fuel allowance is at 65 both genders will be working until then

Probably same with bus passes & free prescriptions but not checked

Which is fair enough as people should be in work until at least 65
