Thanks, it's the way we want it, at the end of the day that is what matters
I feel sorry for those who get caught up between family obligations and the wedding they want. I guess it's a case of "whoever pays the piper calls the tune".0 -
hi there,
planning a wedding most definately brings out the worst in some relations!!
we have been so lucky in that our parents are just letting us get on with it but we have had the most hassle believe it or not from my aunt!!
She took the job of asking her daughter to be my bridesmaid not something I had planned since she has the attitude of Kevin and Perry on a bad day and didn't want to be paying a fortune for our photographer only to see her grumpy face in the photos!!
She is insisting - which turned in to a row at the wknd- that her son and his family of 3 is invited too because of the "principle" as he is a first cousin. He hasn't spoken to me for over 15 years and refuse to spend our happy day with people we do not know.
She has invited a friend for herself as a plus one and another for her daughter. neither of these people were in our budget and are now looking for £300 to accommodate them!! It also puts our table plan out the window because we had to stay under 80 guests to have the plan we wanted.
She has asked all of our relations what they gave us for engagement presents and is telling them not to bother as our wedding is in August this year and says she cannot justify 2 presents so soon apart!! We have never asked for anything apart from support from our family and this is what we are having to deal with.
Do you fancy swapping your MIL for my horrible aunt??
I bet she could give your MIL a run for her money!!
Good luck with her. That was good advice, sit down with a magazine and a bite of lunch and tell her how important she is to you on the day but that you are more than able to plan what you want for your day. My MIL2B has been amazing andI know I am very lucky that she is such a support and a friend but think yourself lucky you don't have the aunt from hell!!
I hope you work it out with her and take everything she does or says with a pinch of salt. Just keep thinking to yourselves it's our day and we will do what we want!! She will soon get the message I'm sure!!0
