thanks so much
have ordered the comfrey stuff,a brush and more samples
will let you know how i get on !
xx
Just take it all slowly, and most importantly, be kind to yourself.
The allantoin in the comfrey and also its in the healing foundation from EB, creates a barrier against, well, not quite the world, but it protects your skin.
I do not want to sound disgusting, but alot of spots etc can be caused from picking ones nose and then touching your face! I'm not saying that anyone does that... honest. But when we are asleep, who knows what we do!! We dribble etc, noses run, but I think (could be wrong) that if you do any of those in your sleep, substances go onto the pillow and come into contact with your face.... basically, the allantoin (comfrey), creates a protective barrier.
Meanwhile, you all know now that I may or may not dribble etc in my sleepGenie

I assume you like me know all the food stuffs you have to avoid.
Red wineSpicy foods.:undecided Just to name a few.
Avoid strenuous exercise. :j. But if I don't want to be huge I have to do this one..
Actually I think I do all the wrong things.
I just use dove soap and a mild face cream. Unfortunately I have to take constant medication to avoid server flair ups.
Mineral make up is fab as a none foundation wearer I find it covers up the redness and I don't feel closed in. ( If you know what I mean:o)
I know exactly what you mean!! It really is hard to put into words, but think you just did!Genie

i dont drink red wine, and not a great amount of spicy foods either
but theres quite a list of things you are supposed to avoid isnt there
mine isnt so bad that i feel i need to at the moment, although like i say it does flare up a bit in this colder weather
if it got really bad then i would look at cutting out the trigger foods
mineral make up sounds fab for me too.i dont like to "feel" like i am wearing much base,i am not into the whole trowel it on look haha!
but i do want to look as if i have some on IYSWIM ,my skin but just without the red bits
god i sound attractive eh :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -

If you research some threads on here - re mineral make up, allantoin etc., you will find me going on about how awful my skin was etc.!! I'd put normal foundation on - which made it worse and sometimes my skin was weeping...
Mineral is so light and doesn't clog, its like wearing nothing. Avoid High street stuff, not sure what ones are pure, if any.
The weather really doesn't help. My skin is not as good as it was in the 'alleged' summer but it is a million times better than it used to be.Genie

I think the comfrey at night really deals with the dry bits and spotty bits ok.Genie

Hi, haven't read the forums for a while now, so apologies if I'm coming into this late! Was diagnosed with rosacea about 11 months ago now and have tried a variety of things. I seem to have mine pretty much under control, not perfect, but bearable by doing the following -
cutting out the majority of alcohol (boring I know, but I'd rather not have a red face!). I still have the occasional glass of wine - white or rose, definitely not red!
cutting back on spicy food.
Protecting my face from sun and cold weather.
using Dermalogica ultracalm cleanser followed by Dermalogica soothing spray and finally Dermalogica barrier cream in the mornings (all can be bought for about £20 each from ebay). Sounds like a bit of a routine, I know, but really doesn't take much time. One thing I found is that water irritates my skin, so I avoid it at all costs when cleansing. Just use a cotton pad moistened slightly with the soothing spray to remove your cleanser.
After that I use a tiny bit of Veil cover cream (they have a website, google them). Peach shade does me and you really only need a tiny bit. Blend this in then cover with mineral foundation (I use Avon's, so not expensive) then apply the rest of your make up as normal. I find, however, that I need very little or no blusher for obvious reasons!
At night, I remove my make up using the Dermalogica cleanser, apply a little Anabact gel (metronizadole 75% - prescribed by doctor) to my face and that's me.
Admittedly, I wouldn't go out without my "face on", but then I never did, even before I had rosacea! Always been a make up girl.
Hope this helps as I know how soul destroying it can be having rosacea. It never goes away, but it can be less noticeable if you just find the right routine for you. For the record, was 39 when diagnosed, bit of a bummer, but could have been worse.

I have had rosacea for over a year now, and the BEST thing for me is taking Fish Oil Supplements. The ordinary ones from Boots are fine. I started with one a day abiut 6 weeks ago, and now am taking one in the morning and one in the evening. It had a pronounced affect on the quality of my skin within a week. My dietary sensitivities have also become more manageable since I started the oil.
Please please try the Fish Oil. I would dearly love to know if taking the Fish Oil has an affect for some, if not all, sufferers.
Would it be possible for us try our own 'clinical trial' on Fish Oil? I've been to a dermatologist who could offer nothing than the usual orthodox medicine, and the ususal 'Well it just happens and you have to live with it because we don't know what it is'.
Perhaps something as simple as a chemical deficiency can have a profound affect on our skin, but treatable with Fish Oil?
If anybody out there is willing to give it a go, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me know.0 -

Fen! Thanks for a great post - I think it is the omega oils that are good for skin and hair that may be making a difference...bizarelly, i have found increasing my intake of these nutrients through flax seeds (i am still trying to take the oil but cannot stand the taste of it!) has helped make my skin super smooth and has cleared up some of my breakouts...still there, unfortunately, but it has definitely got better.
I am not sure if it is a deficienty that caused the problem though - I think it for me and many others it is more of a hormonal, coupled with a stress thing - but the increased consumption of omegas hae definitely helped to improve the situation!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
