Sell to CEX payment delay

I have dealt with these people on a few occasions and have never had trouble but my latest dealing has been awful.
I sent off over £250 worth of games to them on Feb 4th via next day special delivery, it took 2 weeks for the status to change to 'goods received' and i have still not had payment, they ignore e mails sent through their site prefering customers to use their 0845 number which takes ages to get a human to speak to. When you do get to speak to someone they have a couldnt care less attitude.
I have just been told they are busy but i should receive a cheque within the next few days.

I have just found a non premium phone number for them if anyone needs to contact them - 01923 228828.
WHOOOOSHHHHHHHHH……..
Blimey what was that ?

Oh I wasn’t quite ready can I have another go ?
Sorry mate only one per person.

    Hi,

Im in no way sticking up for them here as I to had to wait a long time.
I sent a DS off at the end of January - and it took quite a while to be received but eventually I received the payment last week.
I think its down to them moving warehouses. I think its just a case of being patient - but I do agree there customer services is pretty bad!!

  • Do you live near a CEX shop? I always take my stuff into the shop. The only annoying thing about that is they may not have enough cash that day. You have to go in on Saturday, and there's always someone who never takes a bath in front of you.

Unfortunately the nearest store is 35 miles away so i thought the post method was a better option but might try a store next time band take a clothes peg !

Well mate, i sent off 4 mint mobile phones to them on the 15th January - value £110 - ive had no payment.

I have phoned 7 times and spoken to the most stupid people on the planet who are slopey shoulders and say a cheque is on way....still nothing. emailed 8 times and had no response.

At first they claimed they hadnt received the goods - but it was sent next day special delivery (£10).

So far im down the £110 in phones value, £10 postage, my time, and cost of calls.

CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHO I CAN SPEAK TO?
I got the idea to use CEX from here, should of sold to EBAY - almost 3 months now its ridiculous.

I think MoneySavingExpert should stop plugging CEX immediately. Its another case of extreme bad customer service as seems to be the way with a lot of companies these day!!

I sold several phones to CEX after reading about them on MSE. I sent the phones on the 9th Feb and have still received no money. Their order status screen shows that all the phones were downgraded in the price they would give me but I have had no explanation. The order actually shows as completed a couple of weeks ago but I still have no money.

Just look at their own forum to see how many problems they are causing... http://forums.cex.co.uk/viewforum.php?f=11

My advice is steer well clear of CEX and use one of the others. MSE - please stop plugging CEX!!

In comparison, I sold a phone to Mopay and received the money within a week!
  • I agree MSE should stop plugging CeX : they are just awful. If they do reply to your mails, it is with incorrect info. Their phone agents are rude and dis-interested. They may try and temp you with high amounts of money, to get your business, but if they then 'lose' your phone, and don't give you any money at all - was that extra one or two pounds really worth it?

I agree. Unless this site wants to change its name to MONEYLOSINGEXPERT then CEX should stop being recommended. They are a bunch of shysters and I've lost 8 Xbox 360 Games, worth at least £59, because they refuse to accept they owe me, even though I have Recorded Delivery proof that they received these games and the signature even includes CEX and is viewable online.
  • icon13.gif Despite several phone calls, e-mails we have not received any payment for the phones we sent in January.

icon4.gif It just sums up CeX, totally incompetent and not worth the effort icon4.gif

icon2.gif Better off selling them on e-Bay!!

Please take them off your web-site we would not recommend them.
