Thanks for all your lovely words of encouragement..........this thread has really spurred me on to do more and more. Give me paper scissors and glue and I'm happy for days on end.....................lol
I know its not a competition and I don't see it as that...........just lack a bit in self confidence-but I'll beat it yet...............lol

You are very welcome polly, don't forget in true mse style to shop around for the best prices for the equipment....

I've got a request, hope nobody minds... When we put our cards on here for all to admire ;) , could we also write a short description of how we made the card? This would also help the rest of us if we want to [STRIKE]copy[/STRIKE] make a similar card for our rellies (relatives) and teaches us techniques we might not have thought of. Thanking everyone in advance....

qwiksave - good idea. Didn't think of that.
My 'Love' card I made using white paper. I cut the front of it with wavy scissors leaving a bit of a margin showing part of the inside where I stuck a piece of patterned silver card and some silver peel off.
On the front of the card I put red ribbon down the edge, tied a bow and stuck on silver gems at intervals adding silver peeloffs. The hearts were card ones I had and I stuck them at the edge so half of the shape stuck out (hope you know what I mean)

Also at the moment papercraft inspirations have a subscription offer of a heat embossing tool and some embossing powder . I've just ordered it it seems a good idea a tool and a mag for more ideas.

This is my black and white card. Hope you like it!

It is a white card with a 2" strip of black card that has been embossed with a diamond pattern using a paper crimping tool. The embellishments are die-cut shoes (they're hot pink on the other side but not fitting for the theme!) with brads as decorations (the brads are actually patterned with dots and swirls but you can't see it in the picture). The black lady is a die-cut I bought in a pack from a craft fair and I added silver thread to her wrists to look like bracelets. The quote reads, 'Give a girl the right pairs of shoes and she can conquer the world'. It has been stamped and then heat embossed.

ETA: changed the picture from photobox to photoshop but it won't show up on screen now! Hopefully the link will work!

Thank you craftgranny for hunting out the heat embossing tool and a warm welcome to this thread.

Here is the link to the Wilkinsons £10 tool, that is a very good price, I'm not sure whether that could be beaten (eBay??)

(although the magazine subscription sounds like a very good option)

...and thanks to you too, Birdie85 for sharing your 'challenge' card. Unfortunately your photobox link isn't working but I've been using my imagination from your good description so thanks for that. ;) ....Perhaps you could try Photobucket?
