Hello all and thanks for that surprise Polly & Mary! :D What a good idea! We'd never have guessed that one! ;)

Don't worry about your card Mary, I'm sure the others would agree with me this isn't a competition, its just a fun way of sharing our ideas. Even though we've called it a 'challenge' that is just so we can have a shared theme, not so we can compete.

Obviously we are all going to have individual styles and personal tastes but that doesn't make any of them any less valid. Some people may also have fancy equipment but they don't necessarily make the best cards, often the simpler design is the best. The best way of looking at it is just to enjoy the process, enjoy being creative and have fun!

I for one am glad to have been motivated by this thread to do some more craft. I'd put it on the back burner (looking after kids, etc) and this weekly 'challenge' has reminded me just how much fun crafting can be. Thanks to Polly & everyone, I wouldn't have done it without you! :o

Mary, your card is absolutely gorgeous, I love it. That is lovely paper along the edge, is it shiny? You have a good eye for design and the balance is just right,Well done, don't be so hard on yourself, believe in your ability. It doesn't need fancy stuff to make good cards, it is the balance and design of the card that matters and you seem to have mastered those. It's knowing when to stop sticking more stuff on. The stuff I have I have been given as presents because I have asked for them, my mother who also makes cards sends me stuff when she is bored with it, so I have built up quite a collection of different things, but not even I have fancy expensive equipment, I would so love a cricut but those are £299 and no way could I justify buying that.

I buy stuff in the sales at the craftshop or Lakeland and save ribbon that is on packaging etc. cut buttons of clothing, and buy from poundland.

Polly: Lovely card. So nice in black and white. It looks fantastic. That is another thing I don't have, nice patterned black and white paper, so will have to think of something different for the challenge.
