funny, isn't it? I didn't like it the first way, looked out of balance.
Here is the wedding invitation example with the initials. Just done it a bit quick. I think it would look really nice Bigbird, don't get put off by the heat embossing, with a bit of practise it will look fab. I did have to turn the heart over because half the letter was missing, I had not put enough ink on the pad. My tip is go for a see through block so you can see exactly where you are going to position the initials and loose letters. And I would add a thin gold ribbon maybe, or a little gem on the heart, like a little diamondDepends how simple you want it.

NOOOOOOOOOO, a Cricut machine, that is so not fair!! I have been lusting after one of those things for ages. Are they really as good as they say?? Tell me all about it, please?? I hope you use it lots.. I am so green with jealousy, maybe I should start selling my cards so I can save up for one.
I saw one demonstrated in our new Hobbycraft shop a few weeks before Christmas and showed an interest in it while my DH was around. Without me knowing he went on to the internet and got me the bigger machine from the USA. The cartridges are a little expensive, but I'm looking forward to getting the software to use it to design on the computer. I have made a few cards solely using things cut on the machine, but have practiced lots using different sizes and combination of colours. The machine will cut most thickness of card, but I tried cutting some foam, to make kids cards, but this didn't work. On each of the cartridges (I only have three so far, 2 came with the machine and my DH bought me another for my birthday) there are many additional features shadow images, blocked images so layering of exactly the same image is possible. In addition on some of the cartridges there are templates for tags, bags cards. One even has an envelope to make to size of the card you cut. It's all good fun and you really get to be individual with designs.0 -

Are the cartridges for different fonts and die cuts then? It all adds up but I suppose you could ask those for birthdays and the next 10 Christmasses lol
So from you personal point of view well worth getting then? I would love one, but really would have to be able to justify the expense and use it all the time0 -

From a personal view I love it. I haven't made a card without it since Christmas. It is expensive and the cartridges are very expensive, in Hobbycraft they are about £60 each, but if you shop on Ebay you can get them a bit cheaper. In addition you have to buy the cutting mats, these are supposed to last for 40 cuts. I haven't found a local shop which sells the mats for the expression (these are 12x12) so get them from ebay costing approx £13 for two.
It all depends on the quantity of cards you make. If there was a group of people making cards together I wouldn't hesitate in saying it is worthwhile, but if you only make a few cards then it will work out expensive.0 -

Wow, that looks amazing. Did you cut out the hearts yourself, or are they from a template? Been to The Range today and bought a heat embossing starter kit and a couple of stamps, so will start having a practice. I've never vetured into the crafts section before - there was so much stuff!!!
Thanks for the tips panavia and your card looks gorgeous too. I have so many ideas floating around in my head nowWhat would be a good place to get a stamp made up? I had a look at letter stamps in The Range today but didn't like any of the styles. Ideally I'd like the embossed lettering in the same font as I am using inside the invitations, which is just one I picked from the list in Word.
Fab cards Saint Chris and polly1976. I'm definitely going to have a go at making some myself for upcoming birthdays - I hope mine are looking as good as yours after 8 weeks practice, Saint Chris! (and are you from St Helens, by any chance?? Me too, but now living in not-so-sunny Devon)
