I know I'm being an earlybird and I assure you I am not this organised about everything but I have a card for this week's colour challenge. I haven't submitted a card for a challenge before so I hope it's ok to sort of jump in! :j My colours are brown and cream and I've made the card for my friend's birthday.

I found a pack of Spirelli templates half price in Hobbycraft at the weekend and after seeing the gorgoeus Spirelli cards on here I thought I'd give it a go. The pack of templates contains 12 for £1.99 - 6 x diamond and 6 x rectangle in 6 colours. Wouldn't have paid £4 for the pack but at £2 I didn't mind and glad I did as loved doing it. Got in a bit of a mess as I tried to do it quite late on Saturday night whilst watching a recorded episode of Doctor Who! Had an hour this morning on my own whilst DS2 was alseep so had another go with better results! Hope you like them...

This is my card for the challenge...

The card and Spirelli template are cream, the thread and elephant are brown with a creamy/brown tag thing underneath I cobbled together.

Here are two quick cards I made also using Spirelli...

Really enjoyed making the cards, thanks for the inspiration!!! :D

rainmac - dentist !!!! Could be a big job.......not sure till I get there. A chunk's fell off my capped tooth right at the front.....happened before christmas and dentist managed to fill it.............fillings come out and it has been suggested that front tooth comes out and gets put on to my denture ! Denture wouldn't be ready till Wednesday so I'd have nearly two days looking like a witch:eek: thats without the vast expense (three figures I think:eek: )
Or........if hes clever and kind, he'll just fill it again.......less hassle, less cost.............:j

Ouchhh, sounds like it hurts and ouchhh sounds like it could cost a fair few quid. Fingers crossed for you later.

Hi, I actually made my paper at an art group I went to at our local community centre a couple of years ago. They had a blender and deckle etc - and a good art room to make a mess!

I did look up papermaking on the internet so you can see how to make it. It is quite time consuming but you can end up with something unique to you.

This is one page I found: http://gort.ucsd.edu/preseduc/papermak.htm and there are probably loads more.

I expect there are papermaking kits to be found on ebay too.

Thanks for that qwiksave, sounds messy but good fun. Maybe something I could try with DS1 when he's on school hols???

Thanks for all this info on scrapbooking, I think we are going to need another thread for all this useful information - anybody fancy starting one?...

I made my first one last year for my MIL and I decided the same as you rainmac, the stickers etc made it too cluttered (mine was 8x8) and didn't seem appropriate for the receiver - so I started again, without too many embelishments and stickers. Mine had lots of pics of my 2 boys too - trouble is I miss it now after giving it away! Must make some more for myself! :D

I really enjoyed doing the FD scrapbook for my dad and wrapped it this morning but feel a bit sad cos I love it and really want to keep it. Think I may have a go making one for me to keep but this time will buy a bigger album so I can play around with papers and other pretty stuff :D . Saying that my OH will freak if I start another craft type thing so may have to wait for my b'day and get bits as presents. November is a long way away though...:rotfl:

Rainmac - love the spirelli cards, must, must try it myself. My favourite is the elephant one - so pretty. I also like how you have torn the paper on the last card - very clever!
I found a few scrapbook bargains from a really obscure site, free p+p if you spend over £15. I'll check my email and post the details in a minute.

Okay the website was gallerytextiles.co.uk, I bought 2 accordion book kits for £4.99 each, a breeze one and a meadow one (originally £8.49 each), a maison square book kit £4.99 (was £8.49), and a Life's journey tag book £2.99 (was £4.55). They are all listed in the clearance section under paper crafting, these were about all they had (quite a few tag kits). So I got four kits for £17.96 - postage free. I thought that was quite good. They look like they are K&Co, but have been listed as Studio K, they look nice quality anyway.
I've just checked and they are all K&Co so I think I did quite well!!

rainmac - dentist wasn't so bad..............he decided that another filling should be ok.............fingers crossed it lasts. What I'm worried about is the filling coming out and then the crown just dropping off !! He wouldn't commit himself either way but seemed to think it would last a while (how long is 'a while' ?)...........so 15 minutes and £44 later home I came............lol

Just wondering what I could do to earn £44 for 15 minutes work...:rotfl:

Wow, you got loads for your money, well done!!! The K&Co mini kits are lovely. I've bought one before to use the contents for cards (I gave the actual scrapbook away, d'oh wish I hadn't now!). Let us know what you do with them when you get them :D
