Auntie here. I've been an Auntie since I was 11 and all my neices and nephews call me Auntie:T

It's one of the few words where either spelling is correct - it's down to personal preference.
I prefer Auntie to Aunty for no reason at all!!! I think because you see the word Aunties for more than one Auntie and it looks more familiar???? whereas you don't see Aunty's as in belonging to the Aunty as much.
Why if both spellings are correct you never have Auntys for more than one Aunt it has to be Aunties.0 -
Aunty for me too:D0

I use aunt, aunty and auntie.
Every time I write it I try to think which one is correct but end up using the one I feel like using! I thought it was just me that did that until I read this thread. Glad I'm not alone!
Btw, pronounced an-tee by me.0 -
I had never thought about it until now. On studying it further, I've now decided both spellings look wrong !0

Actually I am not an Auntie (which is what I use) ... we decided years ago to drop the formality ... probably because DH grandparents were still having children whilst the older children were starting to have children themselves.
DH has an 'uncle' who is not much older than him, although I suspect this comment will bring forth of whole lot of nephews / niceces who are older than their uncles and aunties.

My OH's family are just called by their names - in fact they get narky if called aunty or uncle.
Me and OH prefer it that way too.
I find it a bit odd when my sister's children call me aunty! She on the other hand finds it odd that my children just call her by her name!
But yes, it gets more comples when there are different generations mixed up. There is 10 years between my eldest and youngest and it seems daft to think my youngest could feasibly be an aunty before she starts secondary school.0 -
I use Aunty, always have done... most cards in the shops have either so I guess its a personal choice...0

I was talking to my friend today who also uses Auntie
