Auntie or Aunty

Options
Hi There,

Just a quick question

Do you spell it Auntie or Aunty?

My family always spell it Auntie, I have a Jewish friend who spells it Aunty. I'm really interested by this.

Why? Genuinely interested on this one. I always spell it Auntie, but like the OP have been questioning it. :o

At least I know that I'm correct. :D :rotfl:

    I use Auntie.

    Although my cousin uses Aunty.

Don't suppose it matters much, more personal choice but I think Auntie looks nicer (don't ask me why though!).
  • I spell it Auntie

Auntie conjures up an image of a happy smiling lady whereas Aunty conjures up a lady with hair in a bun a sour face and a tweed skirt.

  • I always use Auntie.

Aunty just doesn't look right to me, but that's just my personal opinion.
  • auntie here :)

Aunty looks like a rude swear-word for some reason (don't ask, my mind works in odd ways sometimes :D)
