The last couple of days have been a bit of a nightmare trying to get on this site. Thursday evening, the site was offline for a few hours (again). Then yesterday because of the crash (?) the format was not right from the afternoon onwards.

I've also noticed for a while that if you post a message or reply on the hour, sometimes the site can hang for a little while. Sometimes for a few seconds up to a minute or so. Do the servers back up hourly, on the hour? This would explain this lag in performance. I've noticed this small lag for quite a while now.
