In extreme cases it can be used to remove the child from neglect or other harmful situations. I'm sure that doesn't apply to anyone on here though!
i think you need to reword this as it could frighten the op.
the HV has no legal right to remove children from the care of its parents.
each HV works differently, some see at 3 months some see at 6 months, some do 2 year checks some don't. it depends on what the pct that they work for want in terms of having a health Visitor. perhaps a 3 month visit is part of the patient charterGive blood - its free0 -
Sorry - I meant the HV could advise the relevant bodies such as Social Services who would deal with the case. Here I go again on my own....0

Becles your post would scare me never mind the op
l have a 2yr old and my hv always comes to vist me
uts great not having to wait with a screaming child in a clinic who is also bored
had a vist just before christmas then last month and can not wait till end off march as she is coming back to vist (my son has slow speech...)
l hardly let her sit down before l am asking her question
the vist usually last an hourand thats her not having a cup off tea
chinesedeli nosey is good do not worry about her vist even if your still in your pjs she could not careless nor if your house is a mess she is coming to vist you and see how you are and also your baby lots off mums have pnd and do not say nothing for years ( my friend did and never went for help till her daughter was 2 1/2 yrs) also about 4 - 6 months babies can be weaned she might come with leaflets and samples for you so you are prepared we got free books/spoon/cup/vouchers when she came to vist when my son was about that age :coffee: just make sure you have the kettle on0 -
If you don't want her nosing round your house, then cancel her.
Tell her it's not convienient and you'll come to the surgery for any checks that need to be done.
As for having pools of ironing and being in your PJs at 3pm........welcome to my world:rotfl:"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
pjs at 3pm? its pjs all day for some Liverpudlians! They put high heels on, make up and do their hair, but then go out in their scraggy jammies - i dont bloody get it lol. I love my pjs too, i wear them about the house a lot... it saves ur nice clothes lol0

My HV is useless, she came to do a 12 month check on my son....when he was 20 months! I'm expecting his 2 year check at about 4 and his 3 year check at 21! She's always come around to our house for the checks so that's nothing to worry about x0

i would not worry about the health visitor coming round to see you at home (clue in the name 'visitor') its normal. if everything is fine you have nothing to worry about - its her job to look around to see you are providing a safe environment for the little one and coping - as well as checking the progress and health of your child.
as a young student nurse i hated my health visitor placement (actually i hated most of my placements and never pursued nursing as a career) but my worst experience was going into a flat where a baby had attended A&E with injuries a few times - including injuries consistant with being thrown down the stairs - on entering the flat the mother was someone i had been at school with, i did not recognise the name as she had married since. it was a very difficult situation for me!!
if you have nothing to hide dont worry about health visitors..they are only doing their job. if it is inconvienient to visit at the time she suggests, ask for another mutually convienient time. dont get stressed!! you are a competent mother.Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0 -
Yes don't worry! round here (wigan) the widwives pass you over the the HVs at some point in the 1st month the HV is then your point of contact for most things, I personally love my HV but my friend has the same one and doesn't. - horses for courses as they say!
I was quite lonely when my son was newborn as just moved to the area and I'm a young mum so my friends all driffed off, so I went to weighing clinic every week and now know all the HVs very well!
They do regular checks and the 3 month one will prob cover (as listed in your childs PCHR - red book)how you are feeling, is baby feeding well, is baby reaching development stages appropriately, vision, hearing etc
if they seem nosey its prob just because they haven't got to know you yet.
Our house is always messy and its only partly decorated and they've never judged me poorly.
At my son's recent 12mth check she spotted that he had a slight squint which even tho I spend most of my time staring into his huge brown eyes I hadn't noticed so we're going to orthoptics next week to see if anything needs to be done.
if you ever want a mummy's advice/opinion PM me I'm happy to help0 -
I was quite surprised to hear about a 3 month home visit last year when I had DD1, but apparently it's a new addition (never got it in 2005 with DS2), so don't worry about it.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219.
