Well I've started to get bids through and some of my items have loads of watchers so hoping that is a good sign and not people just keeping an eye on them. DH is out tonight so think I'll prepare the auctions for the other bits and pieces I didn't get chance to list on the weekend and see what else I can dig out.
I've got tons of books that need to be listed on Green Metropolis aswell so will sit infront on my book shelf with the laptop tonight.
DH's wardrobe needs clearing, I've recently done mine so nothing to find there, just the attic then to get to.
Getting excited at having so much space imminently arriving, just hope I don't manage to fill it straight away.
  • I'm doing ebay as an ongoing thing really - not working to a target just trying to clear all the stuff out I no longer use/need!

The only thing I found was when I very first started it I listed loads in one go. The trouble with that is then at the end trying to co-ordinate all the payings lugging loads of parcels down the post office!!

I only list a maxiumum of 10 at a time now!

Only made about £17.00 on the stuff that ended on Sunday after all the fees/postage had been taken off, some still haven't paid, so not sure whether there will be any more fees to deduct.

I actually lost money on about 4 items due to all the charges and postage deductions   , so not too happy about that!

Still waiting for a payment for the week before - I think it's a cheque and the payment bit is showing an hour glass.

All the stuff that sold at the weekend has been posted (at least those that have paid have been posted!) and I listed another 26 items - OH listed about 38 items on Saturday - our DVD recorder died a very painful death last week, so he's gonna get another one off Ebay with his!

5 items from the current lot are selling, and there are quite a few watchers on other stuff as well, so fingers crossed.

One question I have - an item I sold in February (I think) went missing in the post, so I refunded the payment. Found out at the weekend that it turned up and I think they've re-submitted the payment - can this count towards the challenge???

Can I join in too please, I am an experienced seller on E-Bay, I have sold tons of C*ap in the past 2 years. (I mean treasures).

My top tip to you is list on a Friday/Saturday evening, and preferrably on a 10p listing day, and always near the end of the month.

If you find you have no interest in the product you are selling, before the item hits less than 24 hours, revise the item and lower the price to get interest, you cannot do this when the item reaches 24 hours or less.

I have sold a car, dining table, tons, and tons of stuff on E-Bay, but I would also say use www.freeads.co.uk, they are free to list and sell, and is particularly useful for large or expensive items.

My goal is to make £200 per month, if its not glued down, its gonna get sold, either by E-Bay or Carboot, I am sick of tat in the house.

I sold my dining table this morning, guy just been to collect so I have made £250 this morning, as we have decided to use the smaller one in the kitchen, we are doing away with the dining room, can't afford an extension and we need/would like a music room/sitting room for my OH piano, so we have one now, its all about using what you have got).

That is one honest E-Bayer informing you that they received it after you refunded, you should note on your listing that you are not responsible for Royal Mail losing items in the post, and should they wish to take insurance out by means of Recorded Delivery then they can do so. I don't give refunds for items lost in the post, I have over 1000 positive feedback and no negs.

  • I have got my first few watchers on my first items on Ebay - wohoo! No bidders yet but I also have a question to answer on there so hopefully I will be selling some stuff soon! :D

I know, I was gobsmacked - only found out after they left feedback there's a little swirly thing where the pound sign usually goes, so am assuming they've arranged another payment!

Re postage - I've done that on the ones that ended on Sunday and also the ones listed, basically said preferred method is Recorded/Special and anything else is at own risk. I gave them 3 postage options, and so far, they've all gone for RD

I will make a start tomorrow; perhaps just one item a day until I get into the swing of things.

Good luck everyone and congratulations to those with sales already - you're such an inspiration to me :)

Hi Big Paws and thank you for the compliment. I started off just one item at a time five years ago, and here I am still clearing clutter. :rotfl: Hopefully this will be my last big push, but I love the thrill of seeing items creep up in price and the occasional bidding war, so much fun. I need to get out more :o

I managed to list 297 items in the end, I'm making £14.61 already, including four bids on what should only be described (although, um, not in the listing) as the most revolting-looking 'thing' ever - I don't want to break the site rules by advertising here but I'll tell you in a week on Wednesday what it is. Takes all sorts... thank goodness! I can see us all updating the 'what's the strangest thing you've ever sold on eBay' thread at the end of the month, as well as our totals!

Good luck everyone and keep at it. My usual MO is to stick a couple of things a day into turbolister and then upload them all on cheap listings days, but the free listings days hardly ever come around now and it was too good an opportunity to miss. So I just went for it! I was glad to go to work on Monday morning for a rest

You have been very lucky then.

If you accept Paypal, there is no point is saying on your listings that you do not accept responsibility for items lost in the post.
If a buyer doesn't receive your item and has paid by paypal ,they can open a dispute for "item not received" and Paypal will refund them for you with your money.

The added benefits of Recorded/Special delivery are actually for your benefit not the buyers especially if they paid by Paypal.
