Over Credit Limit

I think the OP worded his question badly but it does bing up the point of how the credit cards and for that matter the banks operate. I believe they systematically "allow" people to go overdrawn or over the limit only to hit them with high charges in order to make profit. I personnally changed bank account to one where I know if we make a miscalculation it won't let me spend what I haven't got. But on the other hand £350 is more than a slight miscalculation even with the exchange rate. Just in case the original question is serious, they need to call the credit card company asap. They may be able to raise the credit limit and waive the charge. The OP can't possibly expect them to write off the whole amount tho surely.

Mable I don't often post on these boards, but your continual stream of unpleasant posts makes me so angry.
I am not siding with anyone here.
However, NickX, this is your first post here. Where are all your other posts?

How can you be thanked 5 times in 3 posts if you only have one post under your belt?????? Is there some hacking going on? Weird. Or do you delete your posts a short while later?
Anyway I think Mable said it in a jokey tongue in cheek way and did not mean it in the sense you think.0 -
OK, it is true I haven't posted much on here although I do lurk quite a lot and have picked up lots of useful tips.
But I have actually posted before, so I don't know why my post count is showing as 1. You'll see that I have been thanked 5 times in 3 posts, so why the count shows as 1 is bizarre, maybe just a glitch.
Sure Mable may not have meant the comment as a direct attack on Martin, but I have found some of her other posts quite offensive (don't want to rehash them now) and certainly not appearing at all tongue in cheek, so I kinda assumed she was being serious here.
Re-reading my post, I can see that it maybe appeared somewhat harsh especially for an apparent first time poster, I'm not usually that confrontational, so apologies.0 -
I don't think taking sides really comes into it. Whether you like it or not the fact is Mable does make frequent comments that might not be what most of us would consider as 'Tongue in cheek'. Practically accusing people of lying to obtain credit seems to have been a favourite on more than one occasion.
Sometimes 'Tongue in cheek' can be taken a bit far in my opinion.0 -
I'm with you NickX and relay....I'm a firm believer in the customer taking their responsibilities seriously but there are some posters who seem to revel in their "I told you so" world of self-congratulation. They know full well who they are.For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 20070

This is a very selfish and ignorant comment.
Mable I don't often post on these boards, but your continual stream of unpleasant posts makes me so angry.
Martin is the only professional money saving specialist journalist in the country and he has created these forums for people to seek advice and learn how to manage their finances more effectively. There is no charge for coming on here, and Martin manages this place out of his sheer good will.
I have seen many of your comments and they always attack the poster for being "stupid" and side with the credit card company, often when the company is clearly in the wrong.
I suspect that you work for a credit card company and simply come on this forum to belittle the customers who are genuinely seeking help and advice. In this sense you are simply a troll.
Hi there, I made this post yesterday directed towards Mable, and I have thought about it since and think it was overly harsh, so apologies to Mable, some of your posts have wound me up and I think I got overly worked up about blaming Martin and I overreacted. Sorry.0 -
