That is so true! I had a boyfriend who said he would rather be poor and with me than a millionaire without me! Also, said lots of other romantic twaddle on a regular hourly basis. True to form, when he went sick, lost his job, had no money, he sank into depression, ignored me, treated me like rubbish and still I didn't leave him. The rotter left me! to run back to mommy who would pay his bills. Says it all doesn't it? That was years ago and it was his loss not mine
Yeah, money does buy happiness, that's for sure...without it my BF didn't want to know me.~What you send out comes back to thee thricefold!~~0 -
OMG
Just used that website mentioned on the forums whatsthecost.com and scared myself. I entered most of the figures % APR that I had and have worked out that my half of the debt should be cleared by end of feb 2010 !!!!!!
I suppose that day pampering myself when I am debt free is gonna be when I'm 30!!!!!!!😁0 -
why are you paying nearly £400 per month for your car - can you not survive on a cheaper car - priorities people!! I bought my car for £500 its 10 years old but only has 60000 I love it because it gets me from a to b and I don't have to worry about payments - my insurance is only £300 a year which I can pay in one go and tax is £110. I could never justify spending so much on a car even though my husband sells new cars and we could probably afford it, it doesn't make any sense when my runaround does the job.DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY

me and my OH are in for the tune of 32k. We are currently with the cccs and all in all things are begining to get a bit better. However our repayments are at the minimum we could ' get away with' as the cccs put it before other options than a DMP would have to be considered, so we are hanging on in there. OH's part of the bargain is that he has to bring in £400 a month .. which baring in mind the sort of work he does shouldnt be that hard. ( I work full time, shifts, he looks after the children both of them under 3) .. anyway, he hasnt managed it once since we went to the CCCS. I am now doing some work for a 'text' company on top of my 40 hours a week regular job. I have never felt so ill in all my life and he just doesnt seem to get that saying to me that ' he understands' how worried I am and so is he... is not enough.. he needs to get out of the house and earn some bloody money. i cant say that he is lazy because he isnt and I love him to death even though all we do is argue these days because we are both so stressed. My house is always spotless, children always happy , garden always done etc ( we dont live in a posh house or anything).. but i wold rather have it scruffy and know that our basic bills are going to be paid. My Mum knows whats going on and is worried sick, I am struggling to keep a lid on all my anger and frustration and my regular job is suffering. I havent been able to concentrate on anything else for the past year so have got 2 distance study courses going to waste ( thankfully both will still be viable once we get sorted if that ever happens).. and quite frankly I have had enough!! i am fed up of being in this situation, I am absolutely knackered beyond how knackered I ever thought it possible for a human being to be in, I am sick to death of the drudgery , I havent had any form of holiday in years and am unlikely to have for many many more, i have to wear crappy clothes and dont have any money to do anything at all. Despite all that I am blessed with beautiful children and yes I do have a roof over my head when there are plenty that dont and we have food in our tummys so I guess I really shouldnt moan so much but sometimes I could just sit in a corner and stay there for ever.
Am going to nip onto ebay to see if I can find a magic wand!!!

just a suggestion, could your OH take up child minding as he stays home to watch your 2 anyway? would think a police check and visit from social services to check your house size for suitability wouldn't take too long.I have a cunning plan!

Hello everyone again,
Just thought you should have a quick update. My dad finally knows how much in debt we are and agrees that is astronomical but is pleased that I have made steps to get out of it - phew. He also pointed out that I omitted to calculate for council tax, water, electric, oil for heating, car tax etc - thanks dad!!!!!
The mortgage guy came round last night with a proposal to consolidate a huge chunk of the debt £55,000 worth which would save us approx £700 to chuck at the remaining credit cards and the monthly mortgage payment would only go up from £850 to £1166 fixed fro 3 years (this is instead of paying 850 and 900 in loans = 1750). The agreement should be completed in about a month so fingers crossed😁0 -
Hi A wee new money saver I myself am in a lot of debt some I have tried clearing but I looked into other ways of reducing utilities. eg phone bill.
Try https://www.uswitch.com for the best deal on your landline bt rip people off other companies like talktalk save you about 25% they can even take your line rental broadband etc whats more they have guarantees that they will always be cheaper than Bt I think martin has wrote an article on this.
With regards to your husband mobile bill where does he spend the money ie text or calls if it is text get a o2 online sim card thet give you loads of text for very little a month.
If It is calls try the three network 500 mins for £25 a month is better than the big networks ie o2 will charge you £45 for 400mins which is a rip off.
Also look at the chequeback details a lot of the mobile phone shops do I recently got one from Carphonewarehouse I signed an 18 month agreement and got the whole term half price! only £15 a month for 500 mins and 100 text and a new fancy 3g phone.
I know this wont save you much but you know the saying look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves.Isn't the knowledge that comes from experience more valuable than the knowledge that doesn't?0
