... Does anyone use powdered milk in their cooking/baking? Does it taste okay?
Jackie xx
Jackie - I use powdered milk for everything except breakfast cereal. I am now using Mr T's own brand skimmed milk powder, which cost me £1.72 for a box. (I can get 8 pints per box, so it's quite a saving over the month.) I use an empty milk carton and keep a couple of pints mixed up at all times, stored in the fridge. It may be psychological, but nobody seems to notice when it's chilled and poured out a carton. :rotfl:
Chewy - I have budgets for absolutely everything, but it would depend on your definition of 'fun'.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

It is a bit boring here without your ribitting (sp?)......I wish Germany had a website like moneysavingexpert!0 -
Spent £12.67 today. That should last us until next week.
We had HM Pizza today. The dough was rolled out really thinly, and DH loved it. He is taking the last three slices in for lunch tomorrow. Wouldn't even let me have another slice....I wish Germany had a website like moneysavingexpert!0 -
Thankyou all for the meat ball ideas - just looked at a pack of lamb mince that needs something doing to it - i'd got as far as thinking about a moussaka then realised I didn't have any aubergine!!
Meatballs it is!!

I love moussaka too but can't eat aubergine so i substitute sliced courgette instead. It's yummy!

Went to Booths for some bargains tonight, 2 bottles of morning fresh w/up liquid for £1, big box of Ready Brek for £1.39, some salad and some tulips to brighten up the house, I spent around a fiverish, not updated it yet on the sig until I find the receipt in the bottom of my bag!
I think I'm going to do really well this month as my OH isn't back until the 20th- when he's around the food bills are massive!I :heart2: saving money0 -

Just done this weeks shop and it came to £22.49 in Asda. I have a tenner for bread and milk through the week. Hopefully I wont have to get any extras this week.
Edited to add: Argh just realised we are out of loo rolls, so thats a fiver, but that will last 2-3 months thank goodness!0 -
Evening all!
Tried to post earlier but BB went down
I know a few have commented on whether to use cash or not when buying groceries. I find (IMO), that since using cash only I spend less. It may be because you see the money physically spent and leaving the purse.
My DH and I would usually end up shopping independently, spending a small fortune on goodness knows what  , and still have nothing to show for it at the end of the week.
Each month we now put in £80 to the challenge. We now don't waste money on groceries and neither of us feels one is paying out more than the other.
I realise this might not work for everyone but I thought I share it anyway. Hope you don't mindMFiT-T2 No.350 -
Spent £4.45 in Iceland on milk, cucumber and bananas. I think I'm doing better this month, although I still have to get to 25th and have only around £70 left.
Had HM burgers tonight and bulked them out with breadcrumbs which I hadn't thought if doing before. No-one seemed to even notice:D
BTW i found a use for the ends of the bread that I usually throw away - pizza bases! I had a flash of inspiration when DD2 declared she only likes pitta bread (my usual pizza base) with chicken. i made her's with the crusts and she was quite happy with that.
