Hi - Another silly question but what is your signature, how do you update it and have I got one :o
    thanks

The sig is that bit underneath the line at the bottom of many posts (mine is multicoloured)

Scroll up to the top of this page, and just above the red 'Start' button is a link called 'User CP' - click on it, choose 'edit signature' from the lefthand menu and away you go.

Last week my husband brought home raspberry and blackberry plants (99p from quality save) after i told him about people saving by growing their own food - so i will plant them today and see how they go! Im not expecting much fruit this year though, ill think of it as an investment:rotfl:

Last year we bought a plum tree i wonder how long it takes to grow fruit?

Jacks - i am hoping that i have bought enough milk so my husband doesnt have to call at the shop, as he usually comes back with extra!!

Where do you get the 3kg bags of pasta etc from

    Hey sweetie,

I can't help on the gardening front as I an a complete novice at that myself, but I can tell you that both Asda and Tesco sell 3kg bags of pasta, and it seems to vary round here which is the cheapest!

They actually dissappear surprisingly quickly - ours have lined rubbish bins, been used at carboots, school fairs and for charity shop and freecycle offerings, become emergency nappy sacks, taken craft supplies (ie, the contents of the recycling tub that week) to school and many other jobs.

We started going bagless about 18 months back, and now rarely have any plastic ones in the house (been like that since about October) :j

In fact, now I sometimes have to go out and intentionally use a plastic bag so I have one for certain jobs - no way am I sending my good cotton bags into school - I'd never get them back! :D

Edit - Oh, and a tip for bagless deliveries - have a couple of boxes/crates by the door, just pack the shopping into them and unpack at your leisure once the driver has gone :)

:T Thank honey. I really want to get to the same state as you where if you need one for something you have to go and get one!

Fab Bagless delivery tip as well. It's the cans I'm dreading the most and it shouldn't be too hard to lift them two by two into a box by the door, and then put them away later.

If the blasted driver would carry the crates another 15 feet to my kitchen it'd be even easier, but you never know which one you're going to get, and some of them seem to think that's my job even though it says "Delivered to your door, Your Fridge door" on the side of their vans!

Cheers for the tip hon, I think I might save the placcy bags I've got for future use after all.

    Hi there egon

glad you liked them..especially your little one :T

Well today i got a loaf made -which hasn't been touched yet :shhh: , 3 lots of soup for hubbies flasks.... -the spicy pork goulash, minted pea n ham and veg and lentil - 15 flasks worth -just the chicken n sweetcorn one to do tomorrow :D ...to take me to 20 and with the pork casseroles in the freezer that is hubby sorted out... well apart from his HM bread of course ;)

I love it when thats done out of the way..as it means just grabbing one out at night , sticking it in the jug and then hubby nukes it in the morning whilst making his coffee ....
figured out that hubby would be looking at approx €5 a day if he ate "ready made lunches" -not that he ever has .... so just since being here..about 7 months that would have cost us about €700 :j

Made some more tortillas and froze 4 of the balls of dough again ;) and i had warm home boiled gammon and tzatziki on mine mmmmmm

So today has been a NSD and tomorrow will be as everywhere is closed on Sundays out here :j

Have cooked the chicken for tomorrow..so i can strip it of first thing and make the soup ;) .. think i might make some of the leftover bits into a chicken n ham pie (even though its not on my menu plan this month-can always have a swapsy).. well i have to slice the gammon up for the freezer so there will be chunky bits :p ....

right im off to look through some more cook book/mags to see if anything else catches my eye :p

I'm still thinking I may have to get a old lady pull along. :D

I'm having my shopping delivered without carrier bags for the first time ever this week - so we'll see what kind of a nightmare that is!

Does anybody know what I can do with the 300 or so (I'm guessing! :D  ) bags I have stashed under the sink?

    Hi Jacks
after my mammoth walk from Lidl to the bus station last week, laden with many carrier bags, (my arms still haven't recovered!) I might have to join you with 'an old lady pull along':rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

let us know how you get on with your bagless delivery, I've been thinking of that too but can't imagine how/where the stuff would come into the house. It's quite ridiculous how many bags they use, often only one or 2 items in a bag:eek:

With Mr T you can just give all your old carrier bags to the driver, they now accept other ones from stores too.:D

Hi earthmother, posted reply to Jacks before I got to yours. Thanks for the tip. :T I think I will try bagless next time (will be in April, as I've just had a delivery - complete with excessive number of bags - last Thursday).
