    Hi everyone,
DH did the shopping yesterday and managed to come home with things that we used to buy instead of things that we buy now

I was going to allow £20 for this week but he managed to spend £22 on things i wouldn`t have bought. Never mind, this week is my spare week as i finished My March GC with £1.50p to spare, i`m sure i bought something for a few pence out of it but no idea what it was now:o still under so it`s so far so good.

My April GC will be set at £150 for the month and will start Next Friday on the 28th and as it`s now out of synch with my payday it will be easy for me to get into a mess so i need to be extra careful.
We started using jars for the money instead of the card but as DH kept dipping into them because it was "there" i need to have a rethink on this one. Maybe i`ll draw the money out every Friday and take it from there, it means going out of my way sometimes for a cashpoint but i think i need to try this to see if it works.
I do have a spare jar for dogfood money which i shall keep doing and i`ll hide it as that seems to work well, the only dogfood i buy weekly now is the 6 tins a week and the tuna and pilchards - the big sack comes from the jar so it dosen`t seems like such a big spend when it`s due. I`ve used up all the hm dogfood from the freezer but have most of the ingerdients in for the next batch so i`m hopeful.
I didn`t think we would get to below £40 a week for our shopping but i`m going to try and reduce it by £10 this month to see how we manage and my first shop will be a huge stock up from Asda online as i have a £5 voucher to use as last months went horribly wrong.
Good luck everyone and a huge THANKS for posting all your recipes, they`ve made an enormous difference to how we eat and to our purse.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

I know what you mean about the icky lol but i`d be interested too.
it`s one of those things that you don`t think about much but once you know a bit more about it you can make a decision.
I really resent the cost of the disposable ones, it goes through me every time i have to pay out.

I know that it seems icky  but I'd never turn back after using them for years. I used to buy from a lady that sold on the SAHM shopping site. Can't remember the link. Ebay sells them too.
They are brilliant...so comfy and get nicer through use. ;)

If you search there have been a number of threads in here about them, no doubt with links. I think they are totally money saving, too. :D There were instructions on how to make your own.

Ohh just spotted that the second link with take you through to the 'working at home mall' ...just click on right hand at top. Its where people sell their goods from home, mainly SAHM's I think.

    Hi :hello:
Just updated my signature. Spent £8.94 yesterday on nappies(£2 off pampers carry packs @ MrT) and wipes.
I've got a small delivery coming on Tuesday which will be the last spend for the month :) and then I'll have a shiny new GC budget for April. :D
I'm definately gonna be under budget by even more than last month :j :T so i'm not sure yet what I should set next month's budget at. I think I'm gonna try for £370 as it's a 5 week month for me but I'm not sure yet. I'll confirm it in the new thread.

Going down to the hole in the wall is just too much trouble for me, and I am scared the money will go walkies if I leave it at home or in my bag.

I have two debit cards, one is obviously where my salary goes to, and all my DDs and I have been using it for groceries (and everything else), but the MSE weekly newsletter gave me the idea to use different bank accounts, so from next month I am going to use my second debit card just for groceries (gonna put my budget in there and when it is gone its gone). For DH who spends a fortune on fuel and smokes (and can never 'account' for it), I am going to put his budget onto a cash card we have (probably weekly) and then he can just draw the cash he needs when at the petrol station.

I really want to start this in April, but am confused and don't see how I can stick to it. Does the monthly budget cover everything for eating & cleaning? There's only 2 of us and a stray cat who visits, and we are dead skint, but I can't get the weekly Asda bill under £40+ to save my life
