I saw a posting yesterday where someone buys full fat milk and waters it down to make semi skimmed.
I tried it today, bought some Cravendale milk which is on special in Tesco and it still taste quite creamy after doing half and half.
Could you not try this if they drink semi skimmed?
Would save you a bit there.0 -
I know this is cheating as I didnt join at the start because I am still a bit of a newbie but I have been doing my own little gc.:o i have added it to my sig below as a reminder of how badly I started the month. I realised how much money I was wasting shopping at the supermarkets and have changed to using an exellent local market and building up my store cuboard so I can whip up cheap home made food! It had started to take effect by the end of this month so next month I know I can do tons better. I look forward to joining that and thanks for the inspiration..!:D

Evening everyone
Had 2 grocery non spend days - mainly due to being at work! Will need fruit on Friday and friends coming for Easter tea on Sunday (but hope to make some home made cakes etc so shouldn't cost too much).
KITTY Really sorry to hear about the kitten. We love cats and know what its like to lose one.
Talking of cats - our cat George decided to leave a mouse's head on our beige bedroom carpet and now there's a slight blood stain. Any ideas how to get it out?!
Tonight for our meal we had all in one mince which is basically a shepherds pie/cottage pie filling with added paprika, yellow pepper, tin of toms and cooked rice added. Stir it all together and serve. Very tasty and quick.
Tomorrow we're having fish in batter (from Lidls), frozen oven chips and peas.
Have noticed lots of newbies on the forum so welcome to you all. If you don't achieve your target in the first few months don't give up. The fact that you're trying to reduce your grocery spending will save you money in the long term and it gets quite addictive! :rotfl:
Finally, I managed to get a huge box of weetabix in Lidls and wondered if anyone has a recipe for weetabix cake? I'm sure I've heard of this years ago.
Counting down the days to the end of March!:j

Spent nearly £6 in Co-op on various bits for easter nests, then had to go to Tesco, spending £3.11 to get the rest, and Co-op bananas were so mank they weren't even fit for a banana loaf and that's saying something!
Had an alarming phone call today from Littlewoods. Someone had ordered 2 widescreen LCD tellys and a laptop on my account and wanted them sent to an address 100's of miles away. Littlewoods were a bit suspicious about it and rang me up. My account had been hijacked  . They're not sending the goods out (obviously) and had closed my account and are going to have to open a new one for me. Hopefully everthing is sorted...

I can't believe how much you lot post it's taken me aaaages to catch up especially as I've had to cut and paste all those scrummy recipes :rotfl: Thanks to all of you I may be able to keep to my budget next month :T
Anyway my update for this month....yes I've blown it
Budget £300 Total so far £356.57 Over by £56.57
This did include some meat deals and the Mr T's 1/2 price salmon deal :j but I'm still going to have to buy more milk, washing powder and maybe a bit of fruit and veg. Just can't seem to break the £300 barrier which is ridiculous really as I should be able toAh well I'll just have to keep plugging away. At least next month I won't have to buy any meat
So next months budget I will keep as £300 please Mrs MMFiT Member No 85

I noticed at the weekend Sainsbury's had a third off nappies tho can't remember if it was Huggies or Pampers doh! - I don't have to buy them anymore but I distinctly remember thinking - ooh look at that, someone on the forum might wish to know about that - hope this may be of use to you.

Thanks for that, unfortunately there's not a Sainsbury's where I live so I can't take advantage of this offer. Just looked online and it's on all brands of nappies 33% off. Offer ends tomorrow (20th). Maybe someone else could use this though.
