:T Thanks purplevamp for the krispie nests recipe - shall definitely be making those for the kids as they both have friends over on Good Friday so shall put those out for after their lunch.

Just updated my total again as been to Asda and Lidl this morning - Asda doing 6 Hot Cross Buns for 38p - I know I should be making them myself but the kids prefer the squidgyness you get with the shop bought!! Also bought some dried fruit to make a Simnel cake - thanks to whoever pointed out that it was rolled back and it's actually cheaper than the Smartprice fruit - got a 500g bag of sultanas for 22p and a 500g bag of Mixed dried fruit for 20p although on the shelf it said more than that!!?? and the same with a bag of Currants 20p but on shelf I think it said 38p:confused: shame I couldn't have carried more as I was walking but hopefully still rolled back next week when I can get some more. In Lidl their Veg is still on offer - Iceberg lettuce 37p, bag of red onions 20p, celery 29p, salad toms 39p and best of all Avocados for 19p. Well stocked up now, just need to get some mini eggs on the way back from School run to use in the Krispie nests.

Hope you all have a great Easter.

Forgot to ask in previous message - when you have leftover meat from Roast, what do you do with it - I'm ok on chicken as use this the next day for Chicken & Ham pie, Chicken Curry or Chicken Risotto but what about left over Beef, Pork or Lamb. I always seem to buy a larger joint for roasting than I need and always have loads left and apart from OH having it the following night reheated in some gravy, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about using the leftovers. Looking forward to any ideas you may have - many thanks.

Hullo all...just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone for being such an inspiration. I am not the world's best cook but just reading the posts on here makes me want to experiment in the kitchen. Have been doing a lot more home cokking of late and I really think it's because of you guys. So thank you!

On another subject, just got £8 worth of meal vouchers in the post from Pinecone research for some surveys I had done. Had forgotten about them so really pleased! They apparently work in Asda so will use them instead of cash next month and feed the piggybank instead. Yay!

Haven't issued an update recently, as been busy and miserable (those wretched female hormones seem to come around faster and faster each month). But I picked a few groceries up today when I was in M&S so I've updated my total. I know M&S is naughty but they had 8 oakham chicken legs for £4.50, which is a good price, and there was some breaded haddock cheap as well. I've spent most of the month's £500 but this is the last weekend shop in the month, and I think all I need to get is fruit, next week's packed lunch stuff, pullups for the boy, and a nice piece of meat for Sunday. There's plenty left for that.

And on the wider financial front, I was amazed to see that with the rent paid, and only one bill sitting waiting (£250 for after school care), there is still a bit over £2000 in the bank! It is bonus month for OH too, so there will be a big addition to the house deposit account.
