  • Finished work ready for the long easter weekend. Going to make home made battered fish and chips for tea tomorrow instead of buying them. Saturday were out at friends so no meal to cook just have a late breakfast/early Brunch. Roast sunday and chicken curry and rice monday.
As you'll see from my sig i have failed my buget really badly this month and were only a third of the way through, at this point i would normally think sod it and spend a bit more. So i am trying to focus on what i have achived and not what i've failed at. So the extra i've spent this month will go toward next months meals and i'm going to restock the frezzer with meals that i will make out of the odds and sods in the cupboards and frezzer.
Were away for two 17 days in April so the buget can be reduced and maybe conpensate for the over spend this month.
Sorry for being so long and rambling but, just try to get myself motivated again.

    Thanks

    CC

    Hi,
Went to Tescos yesterday and spent £36.87 on dog food, face cream, food and laundry stuff.
My total is now £88.86 - £11.14 left to go until next Saturday 29th.
I shouldn't need anything else now - hopefully should see me through to coming in under budget.
Will be off for the weekend so a Happy Easter to all!:j

    Hi There,

Well had to go to Asda today to get milk & butter, so I was £3.88. Got loads of butter to do quite a bit of baking this weekend. Doc has confirmed Ds has definetly got a peanut allergy, so,e had to get an epi pen for him. Doc said I have to be very careful with cakes and biscuits, so, Im going to have to to more baking. It will be alot healthier for us all anyway, so, im looking forward to it. Bought doughnut tray from Lakeland,(thought I would try that rather than pay out loads for a doughnut maker) but, Im not going to count that in my GC budget. Need to get recipes for doughnuts, so, if anyone has any and would care to share them, I would be ever so grateful.

Havent had a chance to read through the posts from today & yesterday yet, will do that later once Ive had tea, and picked DS up from his club.

Keep up the good work, everyone is doing well even if you have went over budget, at least you/we are all making a concious effort.

    Jackie xx

    Oh Meant to ask.

The other week I made a casserole, and froze some of the gravy. Do you think that would be okay to use as a sauce for pasta. Im seriously running low on food, but, I really want to try to stretch everything Ive got until beginning of April.

If you think it would be okay, would I just add a bit of cornflour to thicken it up a bit, and should I add a tin of chopped tomatoes?

Well done CC for not letting your overspend get you down and make you give up. The important thing is that you have started to deal with it and can only get better at it!

Have had the last big shop of the month at Sainsbury's and although I was hoping to last till next Thursday it aint gonna happen! I am currently £1.34 under but need to get salad and stuff for the weekend. I would probably have been ok except that my DH asked me to get him some toiletries today which cost £4 - and I had hoped he wouldn't need any stuff till next weeK. Oh well...I hope that the overspend will be under £10 but we'll see.

On the plus side I have made two lots of hot cross buns in the BM - which taste ok though they don't look very spectacular! Also did a half batch of Twinks Hob Nobs and a scrummy chocolate cake for the weekend - so the house smells divine!

    Off to update my sig.

Have a great weekend everyone and Happy Easter!

    Hi Jackie
I did this the other night and it was fab, I just whizzed with hand blender, My original sauce had tinned toms in anyway and also sweet pots which thickened it.
