  • Hi I am new here, I have a request lemon curd recipe thank you... now I am
very happy to see so many people all suffering just like me. LOL I am not
alone...yay! I want to know what you all have on recipes for onions.. I was
blessed with 50 lbs of them. I got them at a local veggie place for $5 dollars.
(from the US) They are very lovely (fresh) but thats a lot of onions. Storage
Ideas? I see you said freeze but I only have small freezer on frig. its full too.
    I feed a family of 6 on $100 a month. I don't know $ to £ but it takes alot of
brain work. My 12 year old told me that he wishes he was a adult.... sigh.
He has alot to learn. But he is my buddy against spending and has often
talked me out of spending or reminded me of something at home so we do
not buy what we dont need. I never go shoping with out him.... he has and
amazing eye for deals!! I think I am creating a monster. (or he will be some
old cheepscate when he is older..LOL) And he is a wizz at math, he will
do the tax and all then tell me the total bill before we go to pay I guess he
is my calculator. Anyhoo give me Ideas for Lentils and beans grains ect.
because that is how I get by, loads of dry goods in bulk..... I buy rice in
50 lb bags if you eat rice with bean or lentils it is the same as meat in complex protein and Iron and with out all the fats and cholesterol.
    Nice to meet you all.
$500 for stocking pantry*that is for whole year*The money is for Spices, Flours, Sauces, Yeast,Dry Grains Beans and Lentils Sugars Rice ETC...I am afraid  to rush out and spend until I am sure what I want. Hi I am new here, I have a request lemon curd recipe thank you...

    Hi, and welcome :)

My curd recipe is as follows - hope it's useful :)

    4 eggs
8oz caster sugar (hope US ounces are the same as UK, otherwise you will need to adjust eggs and fruit components)
    grated rind of 2 lemons
    3fl oz lemon juice
    grated rind of 2 limes
    2 fl oz lime juice
    8oz unsalted butter

Beat the eggs and place in a large heatproof bowl

Add the sugar, rinds and juices. Cut the butter into small pieces and add to the bowl

Place bowl over a pan of gently simmering water Be sure the water isn't actually boiling, or touching the base of the bowl, otherwise you'll scramble the eggs.

Stir until the micture thickens. It will usually take anywhere from 20mins to half an hour. It should be thick enough to leave a trail if drizzled over the surface.

Pour into hot sterilised jars and seal

It will keep for about 6 weeks in the fridge.

    :)

  • I would Like to join too is it ok even though I am in the US... look at me as a
exchange student. As I said earlier $100 a month.... thats my norm.... but
I am getting $500 this march month for the whole years stock up.... as of right now I am out of every thing!! not even salt for the past week.... ran out of yeast last month. So this $500 is for the whole year... really! After I
buy it that is it!! I dont rebuy my stock up. So I have to be very careful.
