I did go through a phase of having miso soup for lunch as it was easy to make up at work, just chucking some hot water in with the paste, veg and noodles, but sickened myself of it so haven't bought any for ages!
I also didn't have carrots on their own as per her recipe so mine's got mixed frozen veg in instead, seemed to work ok although there's still the odd whole pea in there
Some nice ideas on that page I thought, I've made hummous before, and a similar butterbean dip/ spread that was quite tasty!
Fab! Thanks. Soaking my lentils now...

Hi all
i noticed that Boots had the herbal essences shampoo and conditioner on BOGOF so i nipped down there yesterday to get some, i refil some vo5 pump action containers with these and it lasts for ages. It`s the only stuff which seems to make my hair ok and as it`s so thick it really waters down well.
I decided to try their own brand bubble bath too so will see what thats like although we are using the shower more at the moment.
Another £6.56 to add to my sig and i didn`t need to spend it at all but it will last for months now.
I notice that some of you are making brownies - any chance of some one posting a link to the recipe?
Yesterday i made spicy meatballs and froze some so there were enough for three meals for two of us there, i also made spicy sausage rolls which i left in the oven for too longthey were still edible though - just.
The only sweet thing i made was hobnobs and for a change i put a tsp of ground ginger in, they are yummy.
This morning i`ve made a pasta salami bake (although it`s not baked at all) to use up stuff from the fridge and found there was enough for two days so thats altered my meal plan slightly-that means this weeks meal planner will stretch for an extra two days
Good luck everyone, you all seem to be doing really well.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
The indefinable 'meatloaf' wasn't that bad after all; I chopped onion & yellow pepper I found in the fridge, & heated it up with tinned of chopped toms I]NB..Morrisons budget tin toms are soooo much better than MrT, very much less watery[/Ito make a sauce thingy & served it with rice. So in answer to MikeD "Did you all get the bad wind" the answer will be Yes---I think we will
Did most of my replenishment shop that also included a new saucepan @£8 & some wine glasses in MrT sales that I'm hoping the eldest offspring will engrave, to make gifts for 3 folk at least....oh & teaspoons. Do teaspoons & sox run off togethercuz we never have enough of either in our house:rotfl: I've also gone & committed to making bread:eek: Both Allinsons Strong & Premium white bread flours were on offer at 85p(?) & 96p & I checked the price comparison bit & chose Dove's Farm Quick Yeast @ 99p for 125g...thought I'd have a go first before using fresh, & I'm not sure when I'll be making it up either:rolleyes:
I know I'm a PITA, but can I ask for your Choc Brownies recipe Jayne? I swear I looked on the OS recipe thread, but I couldn't find it:o
My spends up to yesterday also include a couple of packs of diabetic sweets as a prezzie for my cousin for easter....what a total rip-off, @ £1:20 per 100g:mad: ..& came in at £46:57, so I'll go update me sig before I forget.

I also meant to ask re: the rice.....would you still have to be ultra careful if using couscous? & when folk do savoury rice/pasta/couscous do you cook it all seperately & mix together at the end or just bung it all inI]my favourite method![/I
I've spent too many years just having the traditional meat-n-two-veg that I'm a complete novice to many of these wonderful ingredients. I do envy you lot making quiche & pasta bakes & such, but my lot rarely try anything different:oFull time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

Hi - sorry, and huge thanks for your reply,I won't keep harping on about rice
, but does this mean that you wouldn't suggest sending a rice salad in a kid's packed lunch box... would I be better doing a weekly pasta salad instead?
Personally, I'd be happier with a pasta salad. I think you can get more variety. You could also think about cous cous. Depends how adventurous your kids are0 -

No, pasta/cous cous/bulghar wheat is fine. It depends if I have leftovers or not. If I'm cooking from scratch, I'll chuck it all in together0 -
At the moment I don't have a hob. Does anyone anyone have any suggestions on how to cook pasta without a hob?
Thank you.January Grocery 11/3740 -
