I have a dilemma. I've got an eyetest booked for sunday (Free thanks to tax credit exemption card ) and I was contemplating trying contact lenses.... but obviously you then pay so much per month rather than buying them outright... what do other DFW's think? Last night I got my glasses (2 years ago now) I paid £100 all in (had an exemption card then as well) and from what I hear you can get contact lenses from £8ish a month?

Also my second dilemma is not knowing whether I look better with or without glasses... hence the poll.. What do you guys honestly think? I've been arguing with myself all week so though 'screw it' I'll just post a poll and whichever wins I'll go with... can you see how much my life is ruled by DFW?? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Well here's the pics anyway, excuse how rough I look.. I just want to know if I look better with glasses or without...

Note to mods.. please don't move this.. I value the opinions of everyone on here and don't really venture out of DFW because everyone I know and love is on here!! lol..

I think you should try contacts:D I used to have daily disposables (in addition to my glasses) they weren't hugely expensive as I only bought them as and when I needed them, I also cleaned them and wore them more than once (bad I know). However, if you are going to wear them frequently monthly or two weekly disposables are cheaper, I wear expensive ones because I have dry eyes, but I know Boots do them for around £9 per month and you get free eye tests and money off glasses too (plus advantage points!) Hope this helps:D0

Oooh thanks. My eyetest is with specsavers but am I right in thinking you can go elsewhere once you've got your prescription?I think you should try contacts:D I used to have daily disposables (in addition to my glasses) they weren't hugely expensive as I only bought them as and when I needed them, I also cleaned them and wore them more than once (bad I know). I would go for the contacts too. I wear them and haven't looked back since changing from my glasses . .

You look lovely with either, but I voted contacts .... i get my contacts from lensmart.com (oops not sure if I'm allowed to name). They are based in america but even with postage of $19.99 (and occasionally customs) I've not found anywhere that is anywhere near as cheap for them - and they are Bausch and Lomb and Johnsons so good 'proper' makes. Plus you don't need to faff sending your prescription each time.

I use coastal contacts, although I think they might have recently changed their name.
I can only have fortnightly ones as I've got a very high prescription (-12 and -13!!!!) and pay about £28 per box, I use Johnson Acuvue 2 as I have dry eyes as well. I am a bit naughty and only change them monthly but there is no problem with that - it's just the protein build up that means I should really change them fortnightly, but as I used to have gas permeable hard ones in the 80s and 90s and you NEVER change them!!
I've had contacts since I was 15 and could NEVER go back to wearing glasses full time !!!!
You can buy your contacts (or glasses) from wherever you choose once you have a prescription.
You look fantastic whatever you decide Sar, but I'd definitely say go for contacts - you have lovely eyes. "Stay Wonky":D "Stay Wonky":D

Yeah once you have your prescrpition you can go anywhere for your lenses, there is an online lens place, can't remember the name, you can go through Quidco and the cashback is good, so might be worht looking into. However you have to have a trial (usually free) so that when you order on line you know which type to get - they will only allow you to buy the ones recommended by your optician I think, might be worht checking out before you go, then you will have an idea what you are looking for - pricewise!:D0

Yeah I wear Acuvue Oaysis (even dearer!!) And I only change them when I feel I need to:rotfl: I know it's a bit naughty but my brother used to work for Johnsons and was told that so long as you look after them and clean them properly daily they will last a bit longer:D0
