morning all,
my DS Josh is poorly he began vomiting last night and hasn't stopped I have him booked in at the G.P's but they wouldn't see him until 4pm today.
I am struggling to get any fluids into him any advice on how to get small amounts in there I am doing my best but he is vomiting everything I give him.
I hope I am not deemed to be asking for medical advice because I am not we will see the doctor for that I just thought other people here have kids and must have had poorly kids at some time.
Whats the best way to give him fluids
Thanks in advance x

How old is he? If he is a baby, then keep a very close eye on him, and if he seems to be getting worse, then take him to docs immediately (even though the appointment is for 4pm, don't wait until then as babies can get dehydrated very quickly).
As the problem is keeping liquids down, rather than tempting him to drink, there's not as far as I know a huge amount you can do, other than to keep offering fluids, as some will be staying put. Don't be put off by the vomiting, and be tempted to deprive him of liquids for that reason.
Otherwise, NHS direct may be able to give more advice?0 -

Don't wait for the GP appointment - ring them and explain he's been ill since last night and not keeping anything down - remind them repeatedly of his age if necessary - or ask to speak to a doctor or the practise nurse.
Any time I've been worried about DS they've fitted him in within hours.

that's solid advice, normally the docs will find a gap asap if it's a child in need of an appointment.
My ds had the same thing last year, he kept throwing up although he hadn't eaten anything. It turned out to be a virus but the doctor saw him in his lunch break.
Hope he feels better soon x0 -
My son had this bug a few months back he is 2 ... you just need to keep trying with water, it was going in and coming back out, check his temp and if hot and you cant get calpol into him then use a cool flannel,
I hope you manage to get him seen earlier its not nice when the littlies are poorly xxHoping to be a thinner me in 2010!0 -
Don't give him any milk products. If you have any energy drinks (lucozade etc) in the house, try that in small quantities with a spoon. Little bits at 15/20 min intervals.
He is a bit young, but flat coke (sugar added, gas taken out) is also excellent. Better than no fluid at all.
If you can get your hands on hydrate fluid then try that. The only thing is to try will little bits of fluid at a time.
Babies dehydrate quickly. How wet are his nappies? Is he lethargic? How often has he vomited this morning? I would phone the GP and stress the importance of this. Or just show up!0 -
Take him to the doctor's now. Don't wait until 4pm.0

go straight there now, and tell them that you cannot wait til later, and kick up a right fuss in front of everyone, how rude that they didnt give you an urgent appointment0

If you can get someone to go to a chemist for you, Dioralyte is the best thing to give him. You mix a sachet with cool boiled water. Try to syringe small amounts in to his mouth. Even though he is being sick, some of the fluid will remain in his stomach and something is better than nothing.
Dioralyte will replace lost salt and fluids to the body and most doctors and chemists recommend it. If you want further info about it, give your pharmacist a call.
I'd also ring the doctors back and say that 4pm is not acceptable. If he's being sick constantly he'll be utterly exhausted by then. Can they not do a home visit over lunchtime/early afternoon?0 -
How is he now? What did the surgery say?The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0
