free mobile select
I recently had this number 08707188991 call me
its a company called "free mobile select" .....website is a dead website
wen they called, ithought they were o2, because they were talking about upgrading my phone
i STUPIDLY decided to go along with the guy on the phone and he set up a new contract for me.
the day after i decided i didn't want it as i realised after another call from them that they were putting me on the three network.
so i tried to cancel it. i ring and ring and leave messages, send a letter. when i get through im told i'll get a call back but never do.
i just tried to cancel with three and they said i cant because its been past 7 days. then three rang up free mobile select and got through and the assistant manager says that i cant cancel it, even though ive tried several attempts at getting in touch. and suprise suprise they dont have my letter or any record of me calling (even though on my bill it shows up several times)
what do i do?! i don't want this contract!!! i've cancelled my card and direct debits. but i don't want people after me for money.
please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you and me both....
so needless to say i also got stuck with a contract that I don't seem to be able to get out of due to their incompetance and unscrupulous behaviour. I believe I have been duped into ILLEGAL behaviour and therefore I am unable to publish any details without fear of indicting myself.
I am livid with this company but feel stuck as I have no proof of what has been said / promised.
is there any suitable recourse?0 -
And heres another! I am livid.
This company called me as my contact with T mobile is coming to an end. When they rang i thought they were Tmob but ofcourse they were Freemobiles <argh>
Phone recieved, tried to ring to activate?????????? nothing. Cant get hold of them after calls and messages but according to the letter if i dont contact them within 5 days they will activate it automatically and then i will be suject to the full terms and conditions. Cheeky ****.
I am just looking round the net to see what kind of outfit this company are and not liking what i see so far.
A tiny amount of time is left then i will be in the same boat as you guys, thats if im not already.

exactlY the same has happened to me!
i received a phone call saying my contract with t-mobile is due to finish in the next couple of weeks. actually after speaking to t-mobile it doesn't finish until October!!!
So they tried telling me they would pay off the rest of my t-mobile bill for me, but i wasn't too sure. i thought it was too good to be true. and it was!!!
ive asked them to cancel my contract and that i want to return my handset!
they've given me an address so ive just got to wait and see if i hear anything or if i get charged for anything!
everyone was so unhelpful on the phone though! every time they said they would ring back they never did so it was costing me not them!!!
THEY ARE CON ARTISTS!!!!0 -
This is a clear case of Misselling and something that Ofcom want to clamp down on. It is also called slamming but without you leaving the other network.
Can you PM me full details of this company and I will forward the info onto Ofcom whom I liase with.
The cashback debacle is bad enough but these tactics are just as bad.
If I can show Ofcom that this is not an isolated incident I am sure they will act.0 -
My daughter was hit by the same scammers, we tried to cancel within the 7 day period, and were constantly put off, or told we would be called back. We never were.
I have records of at least 8 phone calls we made to them in the first week after she was 'cold called' and totally conned.
They were un co-operative on the phone, and even failed to provide me with a return address to send the un-opened mobile phone.
My biggest concern is that 3g seem totally unconcerned that these small companys are ripping off potential 3g customers and tarnishing their name.
We finally got an address this week from one woman at this company, so we have returned the phone, after a month of trying!!.
This still does not resolve the unpaid 3g bills, and despite my daughter having signed no contracts and being totally mis-sold a product she never wanted (she has an existing o2 account) It seems that 3g are quite happy to allow this to happen.
The website address for this company is....
www.freemobilesselect.co.uk
My advice is to steer well clear of any company ringing you re-mobile contract renewals, there are quite a few out there.0 -
This link gives you a recent Video of TMobile's MD confirming that TMobile banned cold calling 2 years ago, without prior authorisation from TMobile.

These companies that have been mentioned, seem to be mainly supplying THREE contracts, and I have passed their details onto Ofcom.0 -
OK, I don't know whether this is where you are supposed to return your phone to, but Free Mobile Select's "real" business address is Orchard Business Centre, Orchard Street, Swansea West Glamorgan SA1 5AS. Their email address is freemobiles4u@hotmail.co.uk. If you've been conned (as many other people have!), my advice is to call the actual 3 network on 08707 330 333 and they will cancel your direct debit. They are aware of Free Mobile Select (FMS) and will try to escalate it to the proper department as FMS are slammers. Apparently the word for this kind of scam is called "slamming". You should contact ofcom and report them as well.0

My daughter has given me a new address to send phones to:
Airtime returns
Advantage House
3a churchward
didcot
ox11 7hb,
The address your quoting is the address my daughter tried to send to from post office.
The Post Office said it wasnt a valid address (?) although it does show up on streetmap.
Confusing company, also see this link:

p.s, cannot currently contact fms, to confirm authourisation code for returned phone, which is required for 3 to cancel............there may be more trouble ahead!!!0

I too have had a protracted run-in with this company. I am with O2 and have a Blackberry data and phone contract with them. When they initially called, it was heavily inferred that they were from O2. I was also assured, that they could reduce the cost of my calls to the US and that they supported the Blackberry. When I received the handset and saw that the documentation was not from O2, I contacted them at once. They would not give me a return address, so I got the address from Companies House and returned the handset to the address in Swansea. It was refused and returned to me. On the 28th of October last year, I wrote to the Managing Director, by recorded post to the effect that they had 28 days in which to arrange collection of the handset. If they had not contacted me within that time, it would be mine to do as I pleased with.
Today, I had a call from their Customer Services Manager - one Jason Cumnor, to the effect that if I didn't return the handset (at my expense) to the returns address in Didcot, the SIM card would be activated and I would be billed.
I am considering my options here. I am tempted to send it back, then issue a small-claims court summons for recovery of my expenses, but I simply cannot seem to tie these people down to an address to do so without incurring even more expense. Judging by the experience of others on the forum, there seems every likelyhood that the delivery will again be refused - if the address exists at all and I will be billed anyway. I am intensely frustrated with these people and would dearly love to see them brought to book.
Needless to say, I have documented everything I have so far done to get rid of these people.0
