Urgent help please - incorrect name on air ticket

I had exactly the same issue with Jet2 this week. My wife uses her 2nd christian name and I booked using that name (there is only one field for Christian name when booking). We were forced to pay £70 name change by the check in clerk at Manchester but when we flew back from Pisa, the check in clerk there thought they were wrong in Manchester as she was instructed to allow any christian name so long it is on the passport and matches with the correct surname. I've written to Jet2 to request a refund. Keep watching.0

Just got a letter back from Jet 2 saying that they refuse a refund quoting
" please ensure that all the passenger names match those on the passports and are written in full, not initials. Middle names are not required."
The name I gave did match the passport exactly, although it was a middle name so a bit of a contradiction. What are the chances of a successful small claims action?0 -
Why dont the people complaining just use the name thats on the passport in the first place?
I honestly cant believe people put shortened names and middle names down for flight tickets when its well known that it needs to exactly match the passport. Whats so hard about it? It doesnt matter if someones wife has been using her middle name for 50 odd years that is of no relevance to an airline!0 -

What's the point in posting to rebuke people? They're posting to ask for help to resolve the given situation, not to be ticked off by you. Mistakes happen, of course they're going to be more careful in future.
For reference, Easyjet recently corrected similar errors for a friend of mine, free of charge and very courteously, via their customer phone line. You need to perservere a bit to find their phone number on their website.
Be careful using Autofill when completing this type of form, sometimes it can cause an error.0 -
I had booked a ticket via Travel Agent for Jet Airways (over the phone). They emailed me to verify details. I've replied them back with "All is OK.". However, I later realized that my first name is spelt wrong. They have put it KRITI. It should be KIRTI. Last name is correct. Passport number is also correct.
CALLED TRAVEL AGENT:
The ticket cost is already £558. In the invoice I had received from travel agent, it is also showing my wrong name. When I called Travel Agent back, they asked for an extra charge of £185. They said that's all they can do.
CALLED JET AIRWAYS:
Very uncooperative. They said they cannot help. Ticket was not issued by them directly.
My question is.... HOW CAN BANK ALLOW TRANSACTION TO GO THROUGH ... WITH A WRONG NAME? If that's so, then anyone who has my card details can make a transaction with my card ... even with a wrong name!
HELP Pls!0 -

I don't know if this is the case for all cards but that's certainly possible with my Visa card. I can use any name/address I want when paying with it online. So I don't know that there's anything unusual about that.
This is one of the reasons I recommend people don't buy from 3rd party sites. Chances are Jet Airways would have corrected it for you free of charge had you booked the ticket from them directly.0 -

My HSBC card decline if my name or address is slightly different from what they have in their system. (but that's online)
I used NatWest this time (talked to an agent over the phone and gave my card details). I am planning to dispute this transaction on grounds that Name was Incorrect (providing invoice from Travel Agent) and transaction still went through, which makes my card insecure.
Yes. It's a very big lesson for me. The only difference with travel agent and airline's official price was of £30 -

Sorry but that's ridiculous. Firstly, you authorized the charge and got exactly what you paid for. You can't dispute a legitimate charge on the grounds that you don't like the security of your card. By that logic you could dispute every charge ever made on the card. Secondly, and more importantly, it's completely unfair to the company you booked through as they have done absolutely nothing wrong and if the chargeback goes through they will be out of pocket simply because you refuse to take responsibility for your own screw-up. I can only say that I very much hope your bank will refuse your request for a chargeback. Just pay the change fee and chalk it up to a lesson learned.0 -

So you confirmed the details were correct but it's their fault !!!!0
