Cheers, GeoffreyI'd be happier on holiday in Brittany than being at work !0 -
I think she probably means virgin as in brand new rather than the network.0

Crikey, am I confuddled now or what!
OH and I are off on holiday at the beginning of September. Going to the Caribbean on a cruise. Leaving DD with Granny!! :j
Anyways.... I am VERY aware not to phone whilst on the ship, so have been doing some research on the likes of 0044 etc.
Can someone help me with this ... If my mum is phoning me from a landline to my mobile (and I have 0044), will she be charged the earth?
We use Talk Talk for our local calls, so she is no longer signed up with any 'cheaper' option.
Want to speak to my daughter every day... so would really be chuffed if someone could give me really sound advice! "Never save something for a special occasion. Every day in your life is a special occasion". _party_0 -
No, it's you who will be stung. Your Gran will only pay the normal cost of a call to a UK mobile. The cost of the call from the UK to where ever you are will be paid by yourself.
Read the thread for alternatives.
Might be a little difficult to purchase a local SIM able to cover your cruise region.0 -

I presume you are talking about a 0044 Global Sim . Go to their website
http://www.0044.co.uk/global-sim-card.htm# and click on "A UK Phone Number" and it it tells you the cost of calling it from a BT Landline.
Has she moved her line rental to Talk Talk or just her calls?0 -

We are both on Talk Talk for alls, but on BT for line rental. "Never save something for a special occasion. Every day in your life is a special occasion". _party_0 -
Just been on the 0044 website and looked up the cost!
Our Global SIM has a UK (Isle of Man) mobile phone number. Therefore from a BT landline it only costs 12.6p/min (peak) and 11.8p/min (off-peak) to call the SIM wherever it is in the world!
Thanks so much! "Never save something for a special occasion. Every day in your life is a special occasion". _party_0 -

Hello everyone,
I think this site should include a thread where people can resell their local SIMs when they return from holiday and buy one for their forthcoming holidays.
Listed in alphabetical order by country preferably! (as it is quite difficult on this thread to find information on the country one is looking for, have to go through the whole thing)
Any views?

ML does not want things sold via this site.... so suppose ebay would be useful....
or a statement like ... Just come back from XxxxxX used a local sim, it worked find, however still got £x credit left on it and not planning to use again ..... might get a few PMs
....Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0
