You do have to be careful and make sure you've chosen the right settings or like any p2p you'll find you're transferring data even when you're not using the player."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

if you have a BB limit on your ISP (as most peeps have) then make sure you delete any bbc iplayer content after watching it.
or watch it "live" by streaming instead.
i couldnt understand why my router was going crazy after DL Topgear!
completely forgot iplayer (kontiki) was a p2p program!Get some gorm.0 -
iPlayer is better presented than 4Od, and once installed, it's a darn sight easier to download programmes if you want to watch them offline (I hate the way 4Od goes through half-a-dozen button clicks before actually starting to download a file - probably because 4Od charges for some programmes and needs additional layers to cover payment, etc.)
It's probably not a good idea to use either if you have usage limits on your broadband account - depending on the programme length, the downloaded files can vary between 50Mb to 800Mb.

Beware the thought police, talking about p2p makes them shaky, even though it's legit.:rotfl:There are 10 types of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who don't...0

Nothing to do with legit uses, it's just black and white in the forum rules that there's a blanket ban on discussion of filesharing and it's explained quite clearly the reasons why and so making your comment "even though it's legit" moot. Don't make the mistake of thinking this is a public area with freedom of speech. It's a privately owned and run forum with its' own rules that you personally agreed to, so no point criticising them."She is quite the oddball. I had a quick go on it a few weeks back and I thought you could untick a box to opt out of sharing.Move along, nothing to see.0

spud17, as I understand it, that tick only means that when you are not using iPlayer, you won't be sharing - if iPlayer is on and running, then it will share until you turn it off.

In any case I've never seen a thread on iPlayer questioned.
I love iPlayer, it's saved my bacon a few times when I've... ahem... accidentally forgotten to record something for Mrs Magyar. I can hook our laptop up to the TV and it's nearly as good as broadcast quality.
To those people who worry about their download limits, get an unlimited service! I switched to O2 broadband recently, and it's unlimited (within reason, but iPlayer's not likely to worry that). And all for £7.50 a month if you're a customer of theirs. And even if you're not £15's still not bad.Says James, in my opinion, there's nothing in this world

That's correct - and to be clear you actually have to right-click on the red icon in the system tray and select "Exit", otherwise it's still actually running.Says James, in my opinion, there's nothing in this world
