Thanks for the advice :) I don't have vinegar either though.

    Hurry up Monday (payday)!

Do you have a lemon or a bottle of lemon juice? Lemon works in place of vinegar. It's a shame you're not up the road. I have LOADS of dried yeast, you would have been welcome to some! :(

Haha! Beat me to it! :O))

No, no lemon or lemon juice either. I've only moved in a while ago so I have not amassed all the bits and bobs you end up with yet.

If you go into Asda, the bakery part they'll give you a piece of yeast for nothing, just ask.

Wow! That's good. I don't have an Asda nearby though.

Pick any recipe, just leave out the sugar or the cheese if you don't have/want them. You can whatever herbs/spices you feel like, a bit of cheese and some mustard powder, some cut up bacon or grated carrot...? Whatever floats your boat really. (There are some recipes that call for an egg, choose a different one LOL)

Maybe Tesco and Morrisons do the same.

Here's a soda bread recepie that doesn't need buttermilk or soured milk. I've used it frequently.

you can replace the cream of tartar and bicarb with same amount of baking powder
