As for the presents thing, I'm not that bothered about them. But he didn't even text or call me on my birthday until I text him. Even then the Happy Birthday message was an after thought. I only got the picnic mat because he'd forgotten about my birthday full stop.

I can understand how you feel about that, but the only way I remember my OH's birthday is because I put a reminder on Yahoo Mail. We are usually together on his birthday so it isn't usually a problem, but this time he was on holiday with his children, so I couldn't wish him happy birthday in the morning as they don't know about me (long story) and so I can't contact him when he is with them until he contacts me. Anyway, he wasn't able to text me until the evening and by then I had completely forgotten about birthday and I texted him without wishing him happy birthday. So I sympathise with your OH.

Little update! We have been on the phone with BT for a significant amount of time and they have removed all the charges! Yey. :j So thats one less thing to worry about. :D It takes the pressure off a bit anyway. And I've just checked my Scottish Power account and I'm £200 in credit!! Oophs! How did that happen? Need to pay more attention me thinks.

OMG...I could actually cry. DH has deleted everything on my external hard drive. It's got all my photos etc on from when I live in the US and movies I made. E V E R Y T H I N G. I am really trying not to cry and be a little child about it. If he doesn't know what the hell he's doing I don't know why he was touching it. He should have just asked.

He's feeling guilty but rather than trying to suck up, he's just had a go at me when I asked if he wanted a brew saying he's not done it on purpose. I didn't even do anything. OMG....I'm so cross it's untrue.

  • oh twinklie Im sorry about the DH situation and the computer!!:(
I have to say other than emails I really have no clue about computers so have no idea of anything to suggest that might be helpful!
that said, it sounds like he is being very defensive in his response to you (and if he is a nice guy ..probably feeling awful and horribly guilty about what he has done)..not nice to be shouted at at all tho!.... he should be making you a cuppa I think!!

sounds like you are both pretty stressed out at the moment for one reason or another ...sometimes thats the hardest time to feel connected to each other or on the same wavelength, even though thats exactly what you both need...glad you had a heart to heart and chatted about it tho and am keeping fingers and toes crossed the computer prob can be fixable....

Twinklie - I am so sorry to hear about your hard drive, you must be devastated. On a purely practical note, it might be worth taking it to a computer specialist who deals in hard drive recovery - I accidentally deleted my hard drive once, and returned my laptop to the manufacturer with a plea for help. They were able to retrieve about a third of what I had lost. I know it's a long shot, but t might just help.

Yes, I think QB is correct - it is actually very difficult to permanently delete data unless you use something like a strong magnet, so hopefully, you will be able to recover some, if not all of your data.

    Hi Twinklie,

Hope you manage to recover some of the data. I hope all you work is safe too.

I am very lucky with my sensitive oh. We have our various problems (mostly money related!!) but my only advice would be to talk as regularly as you can about the things that are important to you, so that he knows how you feel regularly. If I dropped hints to my oh about things he wouldn't have a clue, but if we talk, and sometimes have the same talk again, he does seem to 'get it' and I hope I 'get it' with him too. I also try to do nice things that he likes every now and again (like I know you do) to keep up my part of the deal.
Try not to worry though, every relationship has various issues and ups and downs. Hugs from me!

Thanks guys. Well I've managed to rescue my hard drive. :D He's an idiot and will not be allowed near my computer stuff again without direct supervision!!! We are also making an extra special effort with each other today...it's sweet really.

We've messed up a bit on ye old getting him to work business. A burglar alarm was going off across the street for AGES. There were people in the house as well...we were not happy. Not what you need at 3 am!! Anyway as a result we got up with Belle at 6am and then nodded off with her again thinking she'd wake us at 8am at the latest. 11 am she woke up! 11!!!!! So it must have knocked her for 6 as well.

Anyway, I've managed to find loads of slow cooker recipes so hopefully I'll be making use of a lot of them over the next couple of weeks and we'll have some decent grub to look forward to. :D And it will hopefully reduce our outgoings somewhat because we've been spending FAR too much on food.

Doubt I'll get any uni work done now...but hey ho. There is always tomorrow. I'll focus on DH today and try and massage his ego about how brilliant he is. Even if he is being a bit slow on the getting sorted front today and then blaming me for it. Ha ha. Some things just will never change. :D
