My husband and I paid off our mortgage today (well we left £1 owing, so nationwide would keep our deeds!!). I'm so happy, but we both feel we can't tell anyone, as we are the only ones out of family and friends that have done this, they make us feel abnormal for wanting to be debt free!!
I often read this forum, (i very rarely post threads myself) and you've always given us words of encouragement to carry on saving and pay off our debts. So a huge thank you to all of you.
Good luck to all of you mortgage free wannabee's, you can do it!!0 -
Didn't get the job...however, I'm happy about it. When I got home I started to panic in case I did get it. Kinda made me realise that I do like the place I am now it's just the location thats crap. But with a possible promotion on the horizon then it's actually not all that bad. I'd miss everyone including the kids.
Anyway, thats my news. Was there for 6 and a half hours though!!! :eek:Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25
% of house owned/% of mortgage paid off. July 25 - 38.82%/31.66%

Glad you are happy with the outcome. They do know how to string it out in teaching don't they. :eek:0

Right now I need some advice to get the internal job. The more I've thought about it...the more I REALLY REALLY want it. I am a teacher at a school that is going for specialist status. A job has been created (temp with a view to going permanent) as a Learning and Specialism leader for my subject. I REALLY want this job. I'm quite excited about the prospect of getting my teeth into it....did I mention I want this job?
So my post is more for any help to help me secure the role. I've been told to compose a letter stating what my plans would be for the role. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with anything like this and any suggestions for what I could do to improve my chances. It is an internal advert.
I know the kind of thing I intend to put on my letter but I'm not really sure what else I can do to make me more attractive over other people in the department. I have to hand in my application on the 8th.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

You have to sell the things that you do that others in the department don't like the thing you were telling me about.
Maybe look at other schools that have your specialism and look at what they do and see what you can crib.
You really need to read around what they want to do, and then you can be on the same hymn sheet as them IYSWIM. When i got promoted internally, it was more informal. I just had to have a chat with the HT, and i was recommended by my head of department.0 -
Ooh, good luck Twinkle. You might be better asking this question on TES though? Just a thought. Sorry you didn't get the job the other day but all interview experience is time well spentUpdating soon...0

I have asked it on TES...lol. But I know some of you are teachers so thought I'd hedge my bets. :rotfl:
I've done some research now so I feel more confident about what it is I can say that I might offer. We'll see though...what will be will be and all that.
Got my new wall planner from my union so I'm enjoying colouring all the days off I will have in at the moment. Priorities eh? ha haReduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25
