Orange retentions department are currently doing 2 exclusive plans for customers wanting to upgrade or are currently out of contract.

These are for a 12 month contract and include the majority of handsets as free.

1. 500 mins cross network anytime and 120 texts per month for £25.00

2. 750 mins cross network anytime and 60 texts per month for £35.00.

    O2 Retentions do the same.

500 mins cross network and 400 texts per month for £15.00
750 mins cross network and 400 texts per month for £17.50

Orange customers are being ripped off!!! Ditch them, and go to O2 for better deals when upgrading!!

why don't these firms just simplify everything, dump all the dealer commission-cashback messing about, and just advertise these tariffs for direct sales?

    Thanks for the info Gurjit,

I'm nearing the end of my current contract with orange - i've been with them since they first started. I'm currently on Talk 200 at £30 per month.

I have just tried to get orange to upgrade me to the first tariff that you mention but with no luck. Perhaps i'm not a big enough user. All I can get out of them is 400 mins with no txts and a K750i or 400m with txts but not with a K750i.

Any ideas please let me know.

    Thanks

    Simon

If you tell Orange retention that you can get those tarifs on O2 will they not match them ?

Will o2 give these tarrifs to a new customer though? You can't really ditch Orange if you can't get the 750 tarrif on o2. I'd like to though. Orange are pants.

    Hi Tom,

What tariff were you on before the upgrade and just how hard did you have to push to get the new one? - I haven't yet got to the stage of threatening to leave just in case they accept!!

    Thanks

    Hi Simon
Orange retentions offered me 500 XN minutes, 30 texts (for 3 months) and a free 'phone of my choice for 30 pounds. I went for a samsung D500 and 750 mins for 30 pounds with a 12m contract. This was yesterday and I did't have to try hard at all - just mentioned the 3 offer.
    Cheers
