Just seen in Prima magazine, www.mopay.co.uk will pay cash for your old mobile plus give 10% to childline. You go online, complete the details about your mobile, get a price, send it to them in a padded envelope and get a chq in 14 days. Seems to good to be true, they were quoting £40 for a newish model nokia - sorry didnt note the exact model
Alternatively, you could donate it to womens aid by picking up a fonesforsafety envelope at the body shop.
Edit: P.S Dithered about posting this here or in the mobiles forum, please feel free to move

Just read more on their site. Apparantly, they refurbish the old mobiles and re-sell them.
You can also give all of the money you make to Childline and they support charities wanting to earn a revenue stream too. So if you run a charity or business and are interested in helping a charity, this could be a good thing.
Probably should point out, I don't have any affiliations with them, just caught my eye as it was featured in Prima!"There are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children; one of these is roots, the other wings" - Hodding Carter

Might be worth checking the price here too http://www.phones4u.co.uk/tradein/tradein_request.asp
£1 will be donated to the Caudwell Charitable Trust.0 -

What do these sites do with the phones? Presumably sell them abroad. Wonder if some of these are going towards MTIC (cant remember what it stands for) VAT fraud. At least £1 billion a month going out of the exchequer (or however its spelt). Hospitals and schools not being built because of it. Be good if the press actually got hold of this and reported what we lose a year because of it.0

Spanky. I work for a company that recycles and refurbs mobile phones. Not Mopay btw. Phones that can be refurbished are sold to underdeveloped countries cheaply. This gives them a valuable communication tool which they would probably not have otherwise. Some are also used in this country and wired up with panic buttons ie. for women in refuges and safe houses etc. I can assure you there is no fraud going on. If they cant be refurbed they are recycled, ensuring that no nasties from batteries are leaked into the environment and that every component can be reused rather than being dumped into landfill.Life is not about how many breaths you take.... lots of charity shops will be grateful for your old phone and the guide dogs for the blind etc, they get £3.50 for each one donated.my bark is worse than my bite!!!!!!!!0

I read that Childline was having financial difficulties and may have to close.
So any help there would be good for them.
Apparently charity money went to the Tsunami fund etc and Childline's income dropped.0 -
Lots of networks will give you money for your old mobile as they then send them to be recycled. eg O2 and T Mobile. Ask in store for recycling bags. Why not get a cheque and donate half or all of it to Childline? Or any other charity ?Life is not about how many breaths you take.... Its about how many moments take your breath away

I was looking to get rid of my old samsung today that has a dodgy screen and a little crack on it, and this place was the one I found: http://www.recyclemymobile.co.uk/home.asp
Has anyone ever used them? They gave me a quote of £10 because the phone is a little dead tbh, and they say they pay the money in 72hours and the postage costs.
Has anyone ever used them? Has anyone ever used any of these kind of sites? Are they Legit? Id rather give it away for free than have some dodgy internet company have my phone to refurb and make money off!
