Hi all..some while ago i decided to go ahead and purchase a new build ground floor appartment,,of which there are 4 in this listed build conversion. The brochure looked lovely and in the artists impression it had a lovely solid wood georgian door with columns/pillars to go either side of the door , which looked very fetching and in with the keeping of the building. However when i went on site yesterday there isnt a nice feature door but a cheap and rather nasty looking door which is half glass , half wood,,,resembling nothing like the brochure picture,,,As its the main door to all 4 flats it was to be a feature,i wandered if i had any rights or say in the matter, or if they are allowed to substitute anything at there own pleasure.....thank you in advance

You could say it's been misdescribed.
I doubt they'll change the door but they might offer you some compensation if you offer to talk to Trading Standards for them Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth. Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

As it is a listed building, their planning permission might stipulate doors that are in keeping with the building. Ask at your local planning office.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Some Experienced builders will fit a cheap door whilst construction is ongoing ...So the good stuff isn't damaged .
Your sure the door isn't temporary.0

well i wandered if it was temporary,,but the sales assistant told me today its got to be painted which suggests its stayin..I have just looked on the back of the brochure and its got the usual twaddle "we reserve the right....blah blah blah........to alter blah blah blah"...... so i dont know if thats got them covered ,,but honestly its nothing like the artist impression ..........even my freinds went to luk at my new flat and even they commented on that the door dosnt go with the build.........hmmmmmmm (sits in bad mood)0

With regards to its listed status all depends when it was listed, saw something once where the planners tried to get someone to change some plastic guttering and downpipe, but the owners produced some photographic eveidence that proved the plastic was there before the building became listed and so it got to stay, this may be the case in your situation.0

Well i rang the builders and they said that they wernt allowed to put anything on the elevation so no decorative columns allowed.....if thats the case then why do a feature door like this as indicated in there brochure.so they changed the door to a diffrent and higher spec.....hmmmmmmmmm It annoys me somewhat when you think you know what your gettin,,,,and its not what you get......I still like the original spec myself,,,but what can you do??????? to me it looks cheap !!!!!!0
