Sorry, I don't have the price, but I believe their Canadian flour comes in BIG bags - 15 or 20kg at a time. If you can use it before it reaches it's BB date, I am sure it would be good value though. Our one doesn't do strong wholemeal and 90% of the bread I make is 100% wholemeal.
Although I haven't bought any since the price rocketed, I have always had good results with Carrs Breadmaker flour. Like others here, I have been using the Dove Farm Organic Wholemeal recently.

Thanks Whitefiver, there's only the two of us so we're not likely to get through that much flour unless I can find someone to share with!Piglet

I would measure my pan but I've got a loaf in there at the moment! Will let you know later unless anyone else can measure theirs. They've changed the design of the SD255 from the SD253 so the whole thing is squarer looking with the control panel at the front and not the side. It's easier to see the control panel now. I only make the medium (smallest size) as the larger loaves won't fit in the toaster.
Thanks Billieboy. I bought 255 at Argos today. Cheaper at Asda with the 10% off ATM but, I couldn't wait!!So far I've had two successful small white loaves using the manufacturers recipe on rapid bake. What is the advantage of the slower bake? Is the loaf better in some way?
I am soo pleased that I bought this. The Breville de-luxe is going back to Mum. now. Same price but no comparison in results!!Preemie hats 9 :j0 -

Rapid bake makes something which is "cakey". Normal bake makes bread like it should be.Lets get this straight. Say my house is worth £100K, it drops £20K and I complain but I should not complain when I actually pay £200K via a mortgage:rolleyes:0

If it's left on, it goes into a "sleep" mode but when it wakes up it reverts only to a four hour bake programme and won't reset until you turn it off for long enough that it forgets.....firstly does anyone else's do this?
I've not had this happen, but sometimes I have set it off on the wrong programme and then pressed the start button again and this cancels it.0 -

Mine wouldn't respond to anything other than the start/stop button, I could turn it off by a long push on the start/stop button but then when I turned it back on it was still on the four hour, XL bake and none of the other buttons would respond!
It's fine as long as it's not left turned on!Piglet

I must be extremely lucky because my 50/50 on rapid turns out beautifully. With the recent flour problems, I switched flour, used fresh yeast and last night my loaf was just like it came from the bakersIt was all light and fluffy inside. If this continues then I'll know it's the flour.

How much fresh yeast did you use and for what size loaf please? Did you start the yeast off first or just bung it all in?
This is all new to me but I'm loving it!!:jPreemie hats 9 :j0
