well done polaroid-brilliant willpower, and happy belated birthday!!!!!
  • Hi all, I'm still here as well, over 50 days now and feeling like I don't want a drink, I never thought that would be possible!

Thanks Bis and Moly for keeping things going, hope everyone else is ok.

dont look back and frown, look forward and smile
  • Thanks. It still comes back from time to time, sometimes for no apparent reason, other times when the reason is blindingly obvious, but in a different way to before. When I look back at the first couple of weeks I can see that things are very different now so it's worth hanging in there if you can. I'm know I'm never going to be free of it but, at the moment anyway, things are looking up.

Just to spur you guys on -

I've had enforced (due to pregnancy) sobriety for 5 months now and worked out today that I've saved approx £300 thus far!!
It's been hard going as I love red wine but hopefully my body is feeling the benefits!

    Best - Roxie

  • Wow interesting thread. I'm a uni student who is surrounded by drinking lol...but luckily no-one I see appears to have a problem (although people do waste a LOT of money).
    Keep it up!

  • A note of caution...no-one ever knew I had a problem (not that I'm aware of anyway:o )when I was at uni, it's only after another 25 years of drinking that I'm finally getting sorted out:eek: !

    :hello:

this is how small I feel

oooohhhhhh dear. Will be back with you guys (on that wagon which for me all the wheels fell off of at once) tomorrow i hope. Unbelievably stressy time for ages now (& the wine helped HOW?). Dog now having acupuncture (don't, don't) so officially can no longer afford to maintain drinking habit. Wrong reason for stopping I know, but in a way a good encouragement - it's him or me & I love him to bits!!!!

so true...I would reflect that many of my contemporaries had potential to overdo it later on and pay the ultimate price...I wouldn't be surprised if some of them already had....not sure I want to find out....

well done everyone - especially those who are on the wagon but have been quietly getting on with it...it's not easy or especially exciting but it is very rewarding...
For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 2007
