Morning all,
Sorry I was AWOL last night, DD1 went to her prom so we had last minute panics, I was a taxi'ing service then had to get back and sort the other two out, then spend the rest of the evening making a costume for DS's non-uniform day on Friday. Obviously it all went t!ts up, why am I surprised. I feel very guilty this morning as you are all so supportive and now I feel that everytime I promise I'm gonna do something I don't and now I've let all you lot down too.
Nevermind, onwards and upwards, got the physco woman tonight, let's see if she can open that can of worms any bigger :undecided
I'll be back a bit later when I get to work

Dear all,
I'm finding all your posts inspirational.
Can't thank you all individually but I'm reading everything and finding it really helps.
I went to the pub last night with the family for my OH's birthday. Had an orange juice and soda.
A friend of ours came round to the house later with a bottle of fizz and was VERY indignant about my abstinence: "What, you won't even have a drink on your wife's birthday!?"
I didn't find that very helpful but I didn't "bite". She is a regular drinker and her partner is a hopeless drunk.
Last week I would have joined her for a glass of fizz and had a bottle of wine too.
I didn't find it hard not to drink but as I've mentioned before, midweek is not the most tricky of times for me.
I Couldn't sleep last night, had really bad pains down my side which I assume are withdawal symptoms.
This weekend is going to be a nightmare. Heaps of things lined up where I would normally get blotto.
Good luck to all who "are" and all who are "trying"......here's to AFD 3.0 -
Morning all, I am bright eyed and bushy tailed and on to day 3 of my alcohol-free week:D
Welcome Businesswiz and congrats on the two days :T it really IS an acheivement - good luck for today!
Jo - don't worry about not coming on, as Mollypolly says we are here waiting and wishing you well, sounds like you had your hands full? did DD have a fab time? Good luck at your appointment today
eselt - great plan, i think I may follow suit, I was spending at least a fiver a day on alcohol, I am keeping track of the money not spent in my signature but as Molly says I don't know where the cash is going!!
winebox - loved Doc Martin - I wish those two had got married don't you! Hope you are all psyched up for your day 3?
Everyone else - hope you are all ok0 -
Morning all
Well done sample-straight in at the deep end- as Bismark would say you spotted and overcame all the triggers. Know what you mean about sleep, I found the only way to tackle it without having a drink was by getting physically knackered every day, but its still really hard to shut the whirring mind down.
Thanks for your posts Molly, everytime you log in yet another AFD it keeps me motivated to do the same, you should be so proud of yourself.
Jo-don't beat yourself up about the slight relapse-you are heading in the right direction and thats what matters- my counsellor used to say, 'relapse is fine as long as you learn something from it and kep going forward'-still not too sure what we are supposed to learn but it does make you think!
Good luck to everyone today- Eselt0 -
Morning all,
Welcome newbies and visitors!

Had one bottle again last night - would have manged with none but had a bit of a bum day doing stuff for other people - why do I keep volunteering for these things - must learn to be assertive!
Best Wishes for the day everyone

Jo - don't beat yourself up - you didn't let us down we were just worried, gd luck for today x
eselt - exactly same here - £8 a day unless buy in bulk to get it cheaper  funnily enough was thinking about that this morning; only 2 days & have saved £8 & lost 3lbs!!
Thanks for the best wishes shoppy.
AFD 3 I hope: dunno what's up with me today - great walk (poor dog looks shattered), got back & had shower & suddenly am sitting on side of bath in tears saying I can't do this (ie not drink); feel a bit better / stronger now (cos I've come on here) but feel v wobbly today & guess what? pub lunch lined up    I know it's mad, but as per previous post feel it's not fair on OH to turn routine upside down for my needs, so am repeating mantra of "oh just a diet coke for me please" over & over. Usually when asked if I want large or small wine I can't get the "s" word out! (as an aside, last weekend was in pub & asked for dry white wine, don't know what she thought I said but she asked me if I wanted a half-pint, died & gone to heaven?).
In fact I am due at his by 11 so will have to shift, pls sit on my shoulder between 12 & 1!! If I can get through a day 3 that will be the first time certainly in 2008 & prob a long time before that. EEK:D0 -
Morning everyone. I had a few vodkas last night because I just wanted to sit and relax. We took the dogs down the park for a good run round and then they were zonked out on the settee which meant we could all just sit and watch tv. Watched Doc Martin - love that programme!
Woke up this morning sweating after a horrible dream which Im sure was caused by the vodka and I thought - why did I need the vodka to relax? I was relaxed enough surrounded by snoozing dogs and watching tv. I don't think the vodka did anything at all really except give me a headache this morning.
After reading Allen Carr's book I now stop and think before having a drink about exactly why I want the drink. What is it going to do? Apart from making me feel crap in the morning?
If you feel like asking for a drink today, Winebox, just imagine yourself coming on here later and having to admit that you gave in compared to how you will feel saying "Yay, I managed the lunch without alcohol" and all of us giving you a virtual pat on the back!
Im off to Majorca on Sunday for two weeks so I won't be posting and will probably be drinking by the pool instead.:o It'll be hard not drinking on holiday but I intend not to overdo it.0
