  • Morning people!

BHB try not to worry, 3 beers is not that bad! You do have a busy life! Hope the sun shines for you tomorrow, I love weddings!

Winebox - you will get there

Jo - I have used every excuse under the sun in the past too!

I feel great today, can't believe this is day 5 for me, I was thinking about it on the way to work and aside from when I knew I was pregnant for a short time a couple of months ago (then had the m/c) this is the first time in probably 10 years that I have managed to abstain for so long

I went on downyourdrink last night and completed phase 1 of the programme, I am finding some of it useful and other parts I can't relate to but I am going to stick with it.
  • Hmm, have been reading through this thread and there are far too many familiar anecdotes here for comfort.

I have no idea if I am an alcoholic or not.
I know I drink too much, I know I drink too often, and I know I drink too much too often.

If I had a pint for everytime I'd told myself "I'm going to abstain for a while", I'd be in my grave by now.

I have no idea what I'm going to do but thanks to all for their views, opinions and stories. Nice to know I'm not the only one who is concerned about their consumption levels.
  • Ok so DH and I have a lovely day planned tomorrow (Imperial War Museum/Lowry and then dinner out in Manchester) and all I can think about is what if we were going on the train instead of driving and then we could have loads of drinks with our meal and go round the pubs in manchester afterwards!

I need to get a grip and enjoy the day alcohol free!!!!!:o

(plus need to eat cheap and not buy alcohol or I will have no money left for groceries:rolleyes: )

    Hi everyone

Jo- I can so relate to that first day stuff, it seems as if I could find more excuses to carry on than stop. And you are right about the grief too-I'd never thought about it like that before but you are right, I think when alcohol has been such a big part of your life it leaves a massive whole when its gone.

    Best of luck tonight everyone.
  • where is everyone today? I am doing well again tonight, AFD for me again:T

I feel really bad tonight though, have terrible heart palpitations, has anyone else suffered from them during withdrawal?
  • I'm popping in and out. I'm Alcohol free tonight.
Not had palpitations but did have dizzy spells when I stopped last time.

I have a feeling today is a turning point.

    Catch you tommorrow

well..I'm back and turned down a few offers of drinks this week...after some conversations with fellow campers, turns out there's more "all or nothing" people out there than I first thought....

hope it's going well for you all this weekend...will post more later....
For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 2007
