I personally think it's a great idea, anything to make it harder for me. Unfortunately I don't think my local cornershop/offy (place that sells beer cheaper than the supermarkets) would offer the same system.....shame cos that would give me longer to think about it...DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -

But if you were going in *just* for booze - how would it affect what you were doing?
Apart from the queue being shorter."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

I'd feel uncomfortable knowing that people see me buying alcohol because I don't buy alcohol to drink with friends, have at BBQs, parties etc...I buy alcohol to drink by myself where I'm isolated and alone. They don't know this but I do and would feel paranoid incase other people thought this.DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
As far as alcohol is concerned - we will stop at nothing until we reach our objective .......but only because our brakes are defective!

I don't see how this could work really. If you are that worried about people seeing you then you will just buy a minimum amount in the supermarket and shop elsewhere for most of your alcohol. I personally don't care what people think when I go and buy vodka/wine. My own mum goes to different shops because she doesn't like the idea of one particular shop getting to know how much she drinks! (my parents drink far too much but as they are in their 70's it seems daft for them to give up now). One reason I want to control my drinking is because I don't want to get nasty how my mum does when she drinks.:(
But perhaps I don't care because I don't drink a bottle a night?0 -
I'm not saying it won't work full stop, it will result in people buying less as they won't just slip in a bottle of wine or a couple of beers as an afterthought as it would be an inconvenience.
It will do nothing to stop the hardcore who will go to any lengths to get what they need...net result is that sales will go down but not in the way they hope! For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 20070 -

Perhaps the hope is to slow down the number of people getting addicted to it in the long term ?
