Yep keep those opinions coming Jo
.
Yes I know it sounds a bit weird, but just the whole experience so far has probably sent me backwards not forwards. The counsellor didn't seem to even know what day it was and wrote down the wrong date three different times, hadn't read the previous notes the original interviewer had written and basically didn't listen to a word I said.
I think I would be much better off, If I actually needed counselling going back to the doctors and speaking to someone that I respect and trust, rather than someone that seemed to bungle along making loads of mistakes and losing bits of paper.
The whole feel of thing was wrong from the start .
I think I've made a great deal of progress with you guys.
Allen Carr arrived this morning and I'm half way through. Alright it won't take the craving away, but does make a lot of sense so far.....even after half an hours reading.
So I think I would be a lot happier trundling along getting a bit better slowly like I am with the help of you peeps and my GP and Nurse.
I'm not going to burn any bridges, but just see how I get on without going. I have had counselling before (well - cbt), and if it comes to it I may seek out the psycologist I saw before on the NHS rather than with NORCAS.
I'm going to make an appointment later with my GP to get his opinion.
Best Wishes

Well you know we're all here for you Andy, even if it is you that I'm constantly having a go at
Well I'm off to see the counsellor tonight, stuck to 4 cans a night and will have to reduce to 3 from this evening  I am desperate to stop now and getting quite impatient about 'having' to drink.
Still not written my 'reasons' down on paper yet :undecidedDFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -

Having a go at me? I'd expect nothing less Jo :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Good luck tonight. Weird that you feel odd about being told to drink. Its like the choice has been taken away so its not so attractive now
This habit, disease addiction gets more bizarre and strangely intriguing by the day.
I've just read Mr Carr telling me not to replace the alcohol with something else - like an alcohol free beer? Damn - I just decided I quite like some of the NA beers.
I assume my fizzy water will still be OK

I reckon that's what this is meant to do, I reckon that was his idea but he obviously didn't tell me this - I shall ask him tonightbarshamhillbilly wrote: »I've just read Mr Carr telling me not to replace the alcohol with something else - like an alcohol free beer? I didnt know what to do about this either but somewhere in the book he also asks why you drink......answer :- because you are thirsty.
So why not have 0% alcoholic beer if you like it instead of the fizzy water.(if you see what I mean).Just to quench your thirst of course.;)
When I first stopped drinking I did drink pop but last weekend I found the delights of 0% Becks and had a few of these whilst in the garden.I liked the idea of drinking 'beer' without any ill effects and it hasnt made me crave the REAL STUFF.
Good Luck whatever you decide.

is it not because the brain starts expecting the alcohol to take effect and when it doesn't is when you get the really bad cravings?:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0

Don't wanna go to the counsellor tonight, I'm fed up with thinking about drinking and not drinking, don't wanna have to sit and talk about it too....
