Buying a slow cooker (which? & why?)

Sorry meant to say that I have one of the three setting ones, low, high, and a keep warm function which I find very handy.
Also remember with the larger cookers the cooking pot is VERY heavy and quite large for washing up but tbh that doesn't bother me too much, just worth noting

I bought the Crockpot slowcooker with the heavy pottery pot which you can use on the hob to brown the meat first and can serve from it at the table as it looks like a big pot casserole dish. Think it's about 4.7 litres. There's just 2 of us but this is a good size as I cook more than I need & warm it up next day or freeze it. Since getting that, I've actually won another slow cooker which I've just stashed thinking it'd be useful for if I'm catering for a big party. That's a 6.5 litre & definitely too big for us, so I'm thinking that it might be the size you need for a big family. If you have a bit left over, it'll always do a lunch for the next day & you don't have to fill it right up. I'd never owned a SC before but wouldn't be without it now. I borrowed some slowcooker recipe books from the library & you can do so much more in them than stews & joints. I did sweet & sour chicken the other day and last week a ham hock with boston baked beans. Hope you enjoy getting one x2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever

I have a John Lewis one which you can program so that once it is cooked it automatically goes to keep warm. Perfect if you are going to be out and not sure when you will be in.
It is really really goodThink it cost £40 but it was worth every penny

Is this the one with the digital timer?,i bought one too(altho i think mine is 5.7l)
How are you getting on with the crockpot?..I love being able to brown the meat on the hob first, but im finding everything tasting kind of overcooked, and thick sauces stick like mad to the sides of the crockpot...ive been scared to leave it on all day when im out...it appears a lot more powerfull than my older slow cooker.Slimming World..Wk1,..STS,..Wk2,..-2LB,..Wk3,..-3.5lb,..Wk4,..-2.5,..Wk5,..-1/2lb,Wk6,..STS,..Wk7,..-1lb.

I have the 3.5 litre sc from Lakeland that I have used at least once a week but sometimes things take 12+ hours. However, I bought one of my daughters in law the 6.5 litre Cookworks from Argos and when I tried it, it is much faster and I loved it. I will be buying myself a Cookworks and advertising my old one on Freecycle.0

I have the Argos Cookworks one, bought it when it was on offer for £8 or £9 and it is so much better than the Morphy Richards stainless steel one I used to have till it died.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

Have decided on getting an Argos Cookworks slow cooker which have now got a few pounds off.
Don't know which one to get though, the round one which is half price at 9.99 or the oval one with 3 pounds off at just under 12.
Any ideas anyone?0 -
i have both shapes. the oval one is ideal for cooking a chicken in. i can't get a chicken in a round one. and the oval one also good for big joints of beef. but the round one i can get a huge piece of gammon in. depends what your likely to cook.
if you want to do chickens then go for the oval one. prob more versitile.0
