Buying a slow cooker (which? & why?)
Comments
-
I have a rivel crockpot slow cooker, and after a few hours of it being on high, it gets lots of water/steam on the lid, and then it shoots it out of the sides and makes funny noises. (I'm not very good at explaining things, sorry!)
Because of this, I haven't been able to leave it on whilst I sleep, or whilst I go out, because I have to keep checking on it and getting the water off from around the edges and outside of the slow cooker, and I'd be scared of it blowing up/setting the house on fire!
Does anyone know of a slow cooker that doesn't do this?I'm a money wasting expert.

I got the asda slow cooker that's £7 at the moment, and that one doesn't have the problem I mentioned on my last post.
It has a hole in the lid so maybe that's why?I'm a money wasting expert.

I have a Tesco one that does this. I just stick a sheet of tinfoil under the lid and it behaves itself perfectly, no rattling lid or escaping steam.0 -
I am looking to buy an oval 6ltre slow cooker, that looks fairly traditional.Maybe could put the dish on a gas hob to brown the meat first.I already have an old 6 litre round one with slightly dodgy lead so am looking to upgrade. Can anyone tell me whats out there.I have seen a 5 litre james martin one but am not sure a chicken would fit in.:D0

Not part of the clique, obviously.
I have the cookworks 6.5 litre one, and its very good. Its currently at full price, see here.
This is a different model, but is the same make for £14.99.0
